A truly wonderful opera. I have a different version on my own channel but this is equal to it. One of my commenters said it was so overwhelming she had to keep stopping to gather herself together before going on.

I can't understand why the critics were so dismissive of Il Trittico. I believe it's Puccini at his best.

They don't know what to do with late Puccini. He constantly defies the expectations they have from the caricatured picture they've made of his Big Three operas so they're terribly confused. They even say there's no connection between the three operas, when there are major shared themes such as the death of children, as well as a very clear hell, purgatory, heaven structure.
