John Daily and Tiger Woods are the reason I play golf. It got me 4 years at a D1 school for free. I met John later in life and told him that, said thank you and he gave me the best advice ever,”do everything I do on the course, nothing I do off of it”. I’ve met hundreds of pga tour players and none of them were as cool as Big John. He has lots of demons we all know that but he has a huge heart too. He’s a role model even if he himself doesn’t realize it.

JD hasn't played the Masters in years but every year he hangs out all week at the Hooters on Washington Road a mile or two from the Augusta National. He hangs out with his fans, signs a million autographs, drinks plenty of tall boys, and just does his thing. What a legend.
@MicahDeez07of088 ай бұрын
As a native Augustan, can confirm. He gets his booze from the white horse in Surrey Center. No matter where he's staying, he drives across town to support a locally owned and operated Liquor store. The scttlebutt is that White Horse agreeed to carry Fuzzy's Vodka after no one else would based on his remarks concerning minorities.

His 1991 PGA Championship win is a golf legend forever and inspiring to me as a young golfer back then. Obviously John was battling demons his entire life and career that was left over from his childhood and still accomplished some incredible feats in spite of it. We don't know if that drove him or dragged him down or both, but John Daly had a good heart along with incredible talent along with a penchant for self-destruction at times and we will probably never see another professional golfer like him on the PGA tour.

A truly wonderfully produced documentary Trevor! You really did your research and homework, and deserve to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers! I clearly remember watching John play at the Durban Country Club (on the East coast of South Africa) in the late 1980’s, and simply couldn’t believe the length of his backswing, as well as the enormous distances he was hitting his driver. I was NOT surprised when he completely overwhelmed Crooked Stick in 1991 to win the US PGA Championship! John has obviously been blessed with a huge amount of talent and ability, and if it wasn’t for his outrageous lifestyle off the golf course, he would surely have won significantly more tournaments and major championships! He was definitely one of the most exciting and popular players to watch during those years!

Awesome biography on Big John Daily with historical information personally feathered by his game of golf and life challenges.. We all have our own deamons inside which doesn't sculpture who we are as a person but there is always a stigma attached by the finger pointers & top echelon personale who have a O tolerance and too dumb founded to correlate an understanding for the underlining internal issues to who, when, what, where, and why factoids under the parentheses in terms of reasons unfortunately nor care to go down into that rabbit hole and experience it but rather judge or ridicule which is the easy way of their handling mindlessly.. Sarcastically: "Great Support" and thanks for being there while our kind will be always the alone wolf..

My only Daly annecdote. Working in the golf equipment industry in Little Rock, late 80's, early 90's. Little Rock "Press" was all over some other Silver Spoon, loving' on him, and his Pedigree. Guys from our shop, Little Rock residents let me know about this other UA freak....Asked about him, said he was either on Asian Tour or some African Tour. Found out the guy was actually "Winning". Learning how to WIN. Well, now i'm impressed. So why is the Little Rock Democrat-Gazette pimping this Other guy, instead of Daly? Who cares, typical lazy Press reporting. SO............at some point in the late 80's, Daly rolls into our shop. Employees know him. I did not. He rolls in with 2 Taylor Made Drivers that he has literally CAVED the Face in.........and i assume he is going from pro shop - to - proshop trying to see if someone will send it back to Taylor-Made for a "REFUND". " Well, No John.....we can try..but they'll say no. "if this is happening so often, maybe look at something different"..............We could only think of one thing on the Market, that MAYBE could help, if he's overseas.....showed him the Cobra ( ceramic or other material head ) they were manufacturing........thought maybe this rock hard, clear faced hammer might work for him, at least in NOT CAVING IN......I take zero credit for it...............but thought you all might have a laugh at how he probably came upon that Cobra Driver.......... My Very Best to a Winner......in John Daly.
