I've owned this desktop app almost from the moment it was released. I'd open it, see the lady with the hair, go into the app with my own photo and run away screaming in frustration. Thank you, Jeff. You've shown me the light! I had no idea that this app could do so many cool things.

Thanks Jeff, I started using Affinity because none of the other programs I use were prepared to make a mobile version. I now use Lightroom mobile in conjunction with Affinity .I only use it for photo editing at this stage ,so have only scratched the surface ,of what this app is capable of.Their tutorials are the most understandable of any I have come across .

I was waiting for Photoshop for the iPad. Having used it for a day, I realised how incredibly basic it was so committed to Affinity photo. Amazing bit of kit, and I would struggle to see how Adobe will even catch up with PS. And not to mention the amazing, non subscription price. Great introduction video btw.

Thank you, I was not familiar with Affinity Photo. On my iPad the photo editor I am using is Pixelmator and Darkroom, definitely will more look at Affinity Photo. Sorry I missed the memo that must have stated, “rather than utilize use we will now utilize utilize”. Really, using utilize comes across as pompous, and self ingratiating.

Wow amazing tutorial. Thanks mate. I did buy the Affinity Photo for my iPad pro and even the Apple pencil, but didn't really make an effort to try it out as I'm more at home with my Photoshop CC and there are not many good tutorials here on KZbin. But your video has once again challenged me to have a go at it. Thanks. For instance even a simple thing like how do I change the color and opacity for an individual layer which I have placed on another. Or in other words how does one 'match color' when blending someone's face on another body. I hope you've made some videos on that. But I have subscribed and will watch all your tutorials. God bless.

Hey, @Jeff I'm very late getting around to this video but I recently got my iPad Pro 12.9. I use it for school film & tv production is my major, so I wanted to look into doing more with the iPad. I've heard that Affinity photo was good for some pro users and I was hoping you might make an updated video on how it is with ipadOS now using the pro iPad as well. Thanks for your work in all your videos I always look forward to them.

@GaryR555 жыл бұрын
railerswim Yep! For me, I've wanted to replace my laptop with an iPad since about 2013! As it is right now, the only task I need my old Windows 7 laptop for is photo editing, using Silver Efex Pro 2 in Lightroom 4.0. However, the Asus is on its last legs, at 6 years old, and Silver Efex, as great as it is, is feeling a bit limited. The Asus is so out of date I can't use any more "modern" software, like Luminar, and I'm not going to upgrade to a new laptop just to run it. Meanwhile, on the iPad 2 I still use, I do everything else but photo editing, although I have, on occasion, done some photo editing in Snapseed, which I had on the Asus (lost the disk and now that DxO has bought the Nik Collection, I can't install from the disk anymore). Since I'm planning to buy a 2018 iPad 9.7 soon, anyway, I've thought about doing my photo editing entirely on the iPad and, thus, completing the transition to laptop killer. The only thing that has held me back, so far, is the smaller image size, but you know what? That's not a problem, as most of what I shoot is only posted online, anyway, and when I want to do a large print, the magic of bicubic interpolation makes losslessly enlarging an image to whatever size I need a breeze. I took one of my Sony a5100 photos (24.3MP, 4000x6000) and enlarged it to print an exhibition poster 20x30 inches.
@blackcloud51575 жыл бұрын
I think about buying a iPad for editing, since my 600€ laptops screen is soooooo bad when it comes to colour accuracy, and a iPad has just a good modern screen (or? I think so :D maybe I just got no Plan what a good screen actually looks like because I ve never used a good one :D)

I've found the tool icons too small (2020 version), but can't find a way to make them bigger. Would they look larger on a 12.9" iPad Pro or would they be the same? I'm guessing pixel density is the same across the iPads, just a bigger screen but same size tool icons?

As already been pointed out - at least for professionals with larger files it's a problem to share files only via cloud. I'd have one question. You've mentioned exporting using Airdrop. Is it possible to share the affinity photo file in the same way? To your Mac? That would be awesome. I'd like to use the iPad for retouching and sketching in my large files for posters et cetera, which can be easily >1GB in file size. Thx - als for your quick tips!

The biggest drawback is simply the screen size which the UI, while fairly minimal, further diminishes your effective working area. Biggest size screen is the 12.9 inch which is half the size most professional artists use for screen display tablets. Also, no 4K on ipads.

The only issue with affinity is that iOS doesn’t support the transfer of raw photos via iCloud they all turn into .jpg (unless they have fixed this which I doubt). If you are going to be using raw photos you’ll have to go through a couple extra steps to use them on affinity. It pretty much easier to just use Lightroom unless you want to be limited to the .jpg
