Marko Krstic What should have been added was a way to find out about all the fiend leaders backstories and then convince them to stop their ways and either have them leave the Mojave and join the followers who clean them of their addictions and in return the fiends protect them from thugs looking to harass the followers or help the NCR at hoover dam and break from helping the legion.

Man, this could have made the game even better. Always felt like the Fiends were some of the weaker aspects of the game, considering they were mostly permanently hostile and acted a bit as the Raider-EXP-grind-material found in Fallout 3 and 4. Seeing this makes me wonder if they were considered to be a faction at one point, allowing you to join them and perhaps better their situation somewhat.

I actually liked how The Fiends were handled in NV, they were Raiders with a more interesting background than 3 and 4. Granted, I wish they didn't become hostile to you if you wore Great Khan clothing (most modders focus on making the fiends not hostile if you put on their armor without the NCR caring about it, but honestly, Wearing the Khan clothing makes more sense, because Fiends love their Great Khans, and it has the disadvantage of the NCR hating you. It's perfectly balanced). That way you can insert the option of talking to their leaders.

I agree with both assesments. They are still indeed better than regular ol' Raiders in Fallout 3 & 4, since Fiends actually have a somewhat compelling story and background for their motives (incessant drug abuse).

There *was* a dummied-out Fiend disguise script, actually. You were at one point able to disguise as a Fiend, which meant that you would've been able to interact with them- and that they were considered an actual faction.

if only Bethesda gave obsidian another 8 months to finish this game, we might have gotten all this cut content. BUT of course, they didn't want this game to overshadow skyrim (which in my opinion, it still did.)

I've always wondered why in Fallout New Vegas they say Driver Nephi in a weird way. They make the "I" sound like an "e" and pronounce the "e" like most do in a word like "chess". However since in the cut content they say that Driver Nephi is from Utah that could mean he's from the town of Nephi. I've lived in Utah for around 7 years and everyone pronounces the "e" and "i" as if they were non dependent on the other letters, so just a little weird language thing there. Still though I think it's cool how they made a deep and connected backstory for him. Also the "cult" he's talking about is the Mormon Church.

Lau Patual Actually, Kaisar is the classical pronunciation of Caesar, See-zar is just the anglicized interpretation of old roman writings. Similar to how the legion pronounces "Ave" as "Ah-way", "Vulpes" as "Wulpes" etc. The classical roman V is pronounced as a W sound. Caesar did his research, I suppose

It's how alot of languages pronounce it, the utah area is full of people that speak a Creole that mixes alot of languages and it's possible the pronunciation was changed in common use. I don't know though

"Kaisar" is actually how you're supposed to pronounce it in Latin. That's why the Legion pronounce it that way, while most non-Legion NPCs say "See-zer". The varying pronunciations (mostly) aren't the usual spotty voice direction in games like this - they're actually worldbuilding.

@@rdrrr I would believe you if the name was greek, but it is my understanding that latin speakers such as the Roman's, who were ruled by Julius Caesar, pronounced the letter c with the same sound as an s. Thus, the name is supposed to be pronounced See-zer, not Kai-zer.

@@rdrrr A very interesting tidbit, but regardless of what ancient pronunciation rules either of us have heard, the fact of the matter is that in the modern day we pronounce it as 'see-zer' and I think making the legion pronounce it as 'kai-zer' wasn't a clever reference. I thing it was them saying "Look how much has been forgotten in this post-apocalyptic future. Names are mispronounced, history is forgotten, and legends are poorly imitated by those who barely understand them"

It is the nuclear apocalypse and it's been hundreds of years since civilization, so I'd imagine alot of the mispronounciations to be world building about how there's not anything stopping you from reading old words a new way. The most infamous example in the game probably being Ceaser pronounced Kaiser.

@@drakep.5857 the thing is the LDS Church survives in Ogden, Utah by Latter-Day Saints (New Canaan in universe) so the proper pronunciation should be carried over if Driver Nephi and Bert were from Utah, everyone else could've said it wrong and maybe that could've been an interesting plot point to have Bert and Nephi correct you/others on the pronunciation.
