Damn right! 😂 MS paint boots up faster, you can create your own brushes and astonishing pixel art. People can turn their noses up at it, but I like more quirky options, everything looks so generic and boring now.

Nice review of both applications. I've used Adobe Flash back in the day (late 90's). Always wanted to do more animation when I had some spare time. So better late than never I guess.

After all these years Adobe still hasn't managed a seamless bridge between Animate and After Effects. While they have introduced 'Dynamic Link' between a program like Character Animator, and AE Adobe Animates best option is still to export an swf or a series of PNG's, which isn't the best option if you use both programs back and forth. If Adobe finally manages to bridge this gap, the combination After Effects/Animate beats ToonBoom...

Some software is easier to learn, some software can do more, some software makes it easier to draw and some software makes everything quicker Sure with enough time you may be able to make a semi-profesional looking animated giff with procreate.... But it would be way quicker and easier with animate sai

If i can, i can use this to animate the characters i need and then export the different frames as different pictures for my books. Or is there a free animation software available that could do that? These both look incredible but i dont need the full functionality of them for my books project Thanks

Are you saying you just want a single drawing/picture? If so, there are great programs that let you do this, some free examples are fire alpaca and MediBang paint, but there are also ones that cost money such as paint tool SAI. I’ve been using paint tool SAI for a few weeks now and already love it}!

i know it's a bit late to comment . but i'm assuming that you want to use the software to have more options to pick the perfect shot in between the series of drawings. Well then, yes you can do that in adobe animate (idk if this works in toonboom) . Here's how to do that: > File > Export > export movie > create new folder and name it > save it as jpeg or png sequence > a dialog box will pop up and this should be the settings for png: --1920 x 1080 (72dpi) (important: set the export dimensions to the same dimension of the animation you're currently exporting, in this case, I'm giving you an example of my standard export settings. So if you want to animate in a different dimension/size , you can do that as well. Just remember that whatever dimension you created in that project should be the same with when you'll export it) -- 72 dpi (if you'll go beyond this number, the canvas will be cropped) > click export Then you're done. Just locate the file and then pick your best choice of shots. By the way, I suggest to save it as png for a better export quality.

I had to choose a different program, change to that sub than cancel asap which cost me roughly between 15-20 bucks. I have not been the only person who had to do this either, so I wouldn't suggest it if you don't want to go through that kind of drama.
