Our Granddaughter was A competition Cheerleader, 50 mile drive to and 50 mile drive Back every night! We all supported her as it was expensive! Her tumbling was known through out the Competition cheer world! She was on 2 and 3 Teams at one time! She worked so hard! Became the best in her Team, however the cost got to be too, much! She quit finished school and got Married!Had A free ride to College Cheer, but never made it to college ,even though she her grades always come first! However she is A great Mother with 3 children, now!

Competitive sports for kids now is so expensive and time consuming. It’s really out of reach for a lot of families. I have mixed feelings tbh. Looking back, however, I do believe it’s important for kids to be invested in something (besides gaming and social media crap) - sports, music, art, working with animals, etc.

Our Gs started baseball at 4, private teams and leagues, expensive equipment, and all free time spent in practice, we support them, with $$ and time college scholarships came with choices. They never paid a cent in college expenses however there are other costs. Long trips on buses classes on laptops, missed spring breaks, college social events, dating, and holidays. His Se our oldest came to us with his decision to refuse pro offers. He had the knees of an old man ( he was a catcher) he had numerous surgeries. He told us he could not face another bus or plane trip. Another Christmas 🎁 n a motelbroon. He was done. He focused on his degree and graduated with honors. He brought a very beautiful to first Christmas with family in years. Bow yes married to a he beautiful girl is enjoying his career and climbing cooperate ladder like he use to throw out rubbers. They own the hone drive luxury cars and vacation in Europe. Childhood dream should get encouraged but they also need to learn they can experience difference

We have five children very spaced apart. Boy/girl twins, five years later, a girl, five year after that, a girl and three years later just before I turned 41, another girl. Our boy loved baseball to the point that he spent 30 or more hours per week in college playing and practicing. After college, he spent five years playing minor league ball before going back to college for two masters' degree, which were fully funded by the schools. He now working in a major firm and going up that corporate ladder while playing football (American) for fun and doing Cross Fit with his girlfriend. The tough part about raising a highly competitive child is that it affects the entire family, with vacations and mealtimes etc. the girls all had sports and did quite well, but none continued into college. They all learned so much through their experiences, but again, it came at a price - especially his schedule. It's always baseball season in Florida!

The girl’s all seem to be encouraged to have “sway backs”. Why?? This bothers me. I see that posture as potentially a problem.

As a ballet instructor for over 50 years I must confess I feel its always good to have a ballet vocabulary prior to getting really invested in another discipline. But observing this dancer giving these children an enchainment of pas de bourre to 4th, pirouette. finishing 4th lunge, I could see they hadn't a clue (and why should they?) No turn out, underdevelopment of VMO, and on and on. Their postural stance is completely different in ballroom than in ballet. The ribcage tilts more like a gymnast than a ballerina in ballroom. She (and they) would have been much better off if the instructor knew and understood ballroom and applied something very basic from ballet that literally correlates to ballroom before they attempt an intermediate move with no knowledge of technique. She could have discussed the plie, the proper use of the tendu, spotting techniques, or a dozen other things that they would benefit from. It all begins at the barre. Even professionals coming to a different company always begin again at the barre. And often with two hands on the barre. I just feel she missed a golden opportunity.

Either that, or they attend private school classes, which would make it easier for them to maintain the tempo of the practices and competitions.

The dancing is magnificent. But why do some of the couples make weird faces when they dance?
@itsdune079
@itsdune079 Жыл бұрын
It's to add ✨pizazz✨ to their performances. The judges will take notice of those who stand out and may score them higher. The ballroom world is weird for faces, and much different faces than, say, in contemporary or modern jazz, but it's kind of the way that that world is

To have a career in dance, one must begin in childhood. These children are very mature. They know what they want and are prepared to work for it. It's difficult to understand and appreciate it you aren't that way inclined.

dance lessons were part of education a long time ago. Learning a real skill at a young age is a wonderful thing. In school that was denied to me, because things I wa ted to learn where considered not for my age. So I had to learn many of the things that still help me 50 yrs later from my mother or totally by myself.
