@breathoffreshair77953 ай бұрын
I think this games social narrative is that of the cruel and hypocritical nature in which our culture treats homeless- or any disenfranchised group. Maybe to recognize that those who “hate” are often the very people and reasons why their environment are filled with the lack of love- and care. Hence this protagonist being “the vulture” whether very seriously and the vulture is truly made up in his head or if its real- they still share the same violent beliefs about the city and cause it to be disenfranchised further by their own hostile behaviors, not just that but it touches on how the disenfranchised are also the vulnerable targets for this sort of violent exploitation and abuse- also very telling by “the vulture” which as an animal characteristically will find any moment of opportunity to use others moments of demise for their own gain. The art work in this game , like the sign , shines a light on how polarizing needed compassion is compared to the real nature being lived in even in the game.
@impishlyit97803 ай бұрын
@@breathoffreshair7795 I think Vulture is a different symbolism, actually. I'm pretty sure he's meant to be a personification of the hatred the protagonist feels toward the people in the city who he thinks are actually at fault for its problems. The person who signed the contract to buy a penthouse while the city suffered was apparently "Vulture", after all, and I don't think it's a coincidence that when things kicked off he remembered a sign from his parents' landlord who evicted them when he was a child. Actually, I would wager that the person he killed was probably his old landlord, who had just sold the penthouse. He was enraged by this man making *a quarter of a billion dollars* while his family suffered on the streets over a measly $1500, and killed him. He believed it wasn't really his fault, that this "vulture" who purchased the penthouse was to blame for his actions, and so created this persona. A tall, balding white man killed this landlord after (or by) purchasing property from him.

@@breathoffreshair7795eh I have little empathy for bums. They’re usually junkies. Try to help them and they just go back to doing more drugs. I don’t think the way we treat them is cruel at all. In New York if someone breaks into a house you own and are not using like for example your planning on selling it or a vacation house. If someone breaks in and stays there for more than 3 months I believe the police are not allowed to kick them out. Squatters are literally vermin

@@DoughBoyDopeBoy nope, that is entirely factually incorrect. Engineering has taught me, that everything has positives & negatives. Short people may struggle to reach things, or defend themselves. But they fit places many just can't. Easier for them to get clothes, because children sizes are open to them. Then theres getting the most out of small, agile, efficient vehicles, let alone actually fitting on or in them comfortably. Mazda MX5, Lotus Elise, original Tesla Roadster, Honda Grom, Monkey, and Navi. Small vehicles already get great gas mileage, or BEV range. Imagine how much better it is with a small & petite person? And then theres chest sizes. Aerodynamic and agile, or fat reserves for emergencies, that are also snuggling amplifiers. Everything usually has pros & cons. Don't dwell on things you're born with, can't control, and aren't reallly stopping you from being happy & successful. Oh, and remember guns are also called the great equalizers, allowing the small & frail to repel someone bigger & stronger. Just chose weapons you can easily & reliably handle. Blades too.

Something i noticed near the end, it seems like Vulture is wraring a clergy collar. Combine that with the "inner demon" written on the walls, in red, the "your a sinner" written also in red. Seems like there is a religious undertone or theme to the story, or the characters. The way i read it currently, is like so: Vulture is the protags inner-demon, one he has seemingly struggeled with since childhood. The protagonist grew up poor, in a religious hous, with at least one sick family member, causing the eviction. Once evicted he and his family lived as homeless people for a while, causing the sick family member to get worse, ultimatly dying. Finaly our protagonist gets this job, as it allowes him to show compassion to the homeless, where others would use brute force. It goes fine until this day, the day he killed some one, probably a higher middle class or upper class person. Ofcourse there is holes and things unexplained, if Vulture is the inner demon, then how is on a photo, and what with the people that knock on the windove, yet dont exist. Im not sure about that. But hell share your thought, right.

I feel like it's similar to judge holden from blood meridian thing. I interpreted holden as being real for characters in the book, but for us, readers he was humanity's worse personified. Same with vulture, he's what is wrong with the city? Or perhaps he's the suffering of the homeless personified. And for protag he is, well, his inner demon of sorts. But at the same time he's been there even since city was built.

For anyone curious, omeprazole is an OTC/RX drug used to treat severe or frequent heartburn. Weirdly, I'm pretty sure it didn't come out until the late 70s/early 80s, so the timing of the flashback stage is a little off.

When I was a security guard overnight at this golf resort, I had no flashlight issued to me, and had no walkie talkie to communicate to my coworkers about anything UNLESS i was in truck and used the radio in it. I had to patrol an unlit golf resort with no light except my phone, headlights from the truck and at least 3/4 of the time I was on foot patrolling 😢

Ngl if I'd ever work similar job, even with flashlight I'd keep it off and just sort of skulk around in the dark. BE the reason people think the place is haunted lol

I love the idea of a video game having a message pop up with no explanation or relation to the game, like the "torch doesn't need oil at this time" message. I can just imagine playing a horror game, and in the middle of a super tense moment a message pops up saying "Your cat Mittens needs to be fed".

22:40 what a missed opportunity for a jumpscare-, for example, if he crouched for 3 seconds and just rushed in through the door i (and i believe IGP) would've screamed lol

Jumpscares are cheap, gradual horror and tension is more entertaining

3:03 it's a Matrix reference, Thomas Anderson's passport expires 9/11/01

Ohhhhh ok.. Honestly, I thought it might be a Gen Z aged developer who created the game and just wasn't as sensitive to that date as Millennials, Gen X, etc.. Still pretty weird to be honest. Most people will not immediately think of Matrix when they think of that date.
@ledumpsterfire64743 ай бұрын
@@notme1255 As an older millennial, I don't really see your reasoning. People who actually experienced those events in person, or lost somebody over the course of them, fair enough they'd be sensitive. Anyone else.. it's been 23 years. It's a major bit of edgelording to use that date, but it shouldn't really affect the vast majority of people 23 years later.
@notme12553 ай бұрын
@@ledumpsterfire6474 I'm not saying everyone has to break down in tears over that date after 23 years. I'm just saying the movie reference is not the first thing people think of. Don't take an opinion personally man. I've got half a dozen Gen Z family members from different areas and schools and they all just don't have that immediate recognition of the date simply because many weren't even alive at that date yet.

MY MATRIX REFERENCES NOW HAVE MEANING, I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT
@Hawk78863 ай бұрын
@@notme1255 I watched it live with my brother. It was a day that lives in infamy, but it's been a literal lifetime. Tragedy + Time = Comedy. You might consider it edgelord, but I'm not going to get offended by jokes.
