Was fortunate enough to see a couple of them in action in 1984 at the gun range on North Fort Fort Polk LA. I was a crewman on a M60A1 and after witnessing it was glad they were on our side. They flew outta Tech Wing fm England AFB LA. It was impressive to see what they could do to armored vehicles!

The CRAM does not engage planes. As the name suggest - Counter Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar. The sound is very unique and once you hear it, you don't forget it.

It is, the plane is firing real shots, so are the guns. You would know this if you knew weapons of war. Real shits are fired and looked like that. You think they would go faster but the ground has a small range to shoot from. So it looks slower when being shot. That explosion was real.

Being a Thunderbolt driver I don't see how the plane didn't buy farm also didn't see the detonation of the c-ram round either. My theory is it does look real. They were doing image raging with stuff that bounces off the mock target maybe RC who the hell knows these days. I know we did raging tests like that from 60s on thru the years. This seems to be a case a range fire test. I worked with a guy from Utah on a similar project although the projectile is same weight and same velocity it will not totally damage a mock target. The object is range not target destruction.

The voice of god. The big ones have five barrels, and each barrel has three rounds in it at all times: one that has just been fired, one midway down the barrel and one just exiting the barrel. Every third round is a tracer (at least for night fire purposes) and when they pull the trigger, the tracers are so dense that it looks like a solid beam of light. Solid, bright white light, like a laser cannon. They are unbelievable weapons. I used to watch them do night fire exercises at McGregor Range, NM. It was and is an Army anti-aircraft missile test and training facility.

Right, this is not realistic. The gun systems are better, but so are the aircraft systems. You'd use something like Maverick, Brimstone, HARM, ALARM, or even APKWS to kill the gun from a safe distance and then come in and have your wicked way with the undefended ground pounders. If your missile made it through. The only way this is realistic is if the ECM on the aircraft is excellent, and the gun can't lock on. With those smooth flightpaths any aircraft would be shredded. Looks nice, but it's crap.
