Thanks for posting, I got a pair in a damaged packaging ones on Amazon for like $75 total, and put them on my 2006 Sportster (with a few tweeks). Way happy at about 33# of pressure. Going to get some more.

Another great option for you guys on the later model touring bikes with air is to find a pair of take-offs from a newer model. They are adjustable, cheap and work great. Best thing I ever did for my 2007 Ultra. There are a TON of BRAND NEW take-offs out there from guys upgrading to Legends or Ohlins, they bolt right up, no MODS. Just a tip from another Harley Guy on a budget!

Work great compared to what you’re coming from, which was atrocious. First thing I changed was those “adjustable” HD shocks. You don’t have to spend what some of us do, get a set of Progressive 412’s for under $300 and it’s 100x’s better than what HD offers.

My set is on the way. 2013 ultra classic. Sitting on the seat you can barely get the rears to move. Summit racing sells the kit for less than $75 plus shipping. Looking at trying the intimidators from dk customs in front forks. $199 plus fork oil. If it works a total suspension upgrade for around $300.

I'd suggest you do a video showing the shocks on your bike, and how you set them up with the modifications needed, for those who are having a bit of trouble following what you're describing.... like me😂. But seriously, I've got an 09 RK and I was only wondering if there was a car shock that might fit.... me being a heavier type of fella.

Ran this set-up on 2 bikes now - 2010 UC and 2015 RG. Paid $75 for the shocks and $120 for a ViAir compressor which is stashed behind my right side cover. No ABS or security allows this location but can install on touring bag support rail too. Anyway, entire setup with a electropneumatic Firestone switch, relays cost me $300 for an amazing setup and fantastic ride.

So I went ahead and put these on my 2013 ElectraGlide. They are amazing. My stock shocks also stop holding air. I am totally satisfied. It only took about an hour to change out everything and get back on the road.

Thanks for the tip and insights.I'll have to give them a try. Also something a bit more compact than the portable electric compressor, might be a bicycle hand pump, (I think you can get to about 80psi with the better ones), or a bike/motorcycle shock hand pump that go to like 250psi, but do it in a lot of small strokes, but should be fine for topping up suspension on the road. Also, I see Gabriel 49304 HiJackers are the same fitment but are a little different design.
@billyadkins1608 Жыл бұрын
Just installed mine. Pretty easy install. Be careful and go slow opening up the top bushings. I used a half inch drill bit. Instead of cutting the lower part I went to tractor supply and bought 2 3inch 13 pitch half inch flanged bolts. Rides a lot better at about 70psi. Not for the front…

Super great info. I was in the market for some progressive 412 because I don’t want to spend a grand on shocks. I ride a 2017 road glide special and I do things on a budget also. I have put a few install videos on KZbin channel also to help people out. I will definitely have to try this and I believe it will help me out because I’m a big guy also, 6’5 330 pounds. Thanks for the info and keep it up I’ll be tuned in.

Save your money to buy a better shock than the Progressive 412. They are junk. I put a set of HD 412"s on my '21 Road King, road to mts. and could not wait to get back and put the original's on even though they are crap but better than the Progressive. JMHO

I bought my first Harley a couple of years ago. I’ve been riding Japanese bikes for the past thirty years. The one thing that jumped out at me is how terrible the stock factory shocks were, pure junk. Harley should be embarrassed for putting this garbage on their bikes, the damping is non-existent. I bought a set of Ohlins 359’s it totally transformed the bike. The bike handles impressively well now, hi speed sweepers are fun. So much so that I am hitting the floor boards frequently. Do yourself a favour, throw the stock shocks in the garbage and buy a set of Ohlins or Legends (mine are rebound and pre-load adjustable, you don’t anymore adjustability than that). You’d be amazed how well a Harley can handle with better shocks - I was.
