Forward facing so close to the age of 2 isn’t as worrisome as the headrest being way to for up. Press the button at the top of the headrest and move them down until the straps are only about an inch above their shoulders (you have to take the seat out to do that) too much room between the straps and shoulders could cause them to slip out in even a minor crash....that and the loose straps. You should not be able to pinch the straps. & chest clip on the chest not the belly. No mom shaming here, just want the babies safe. :) I was glad somebody taught me when I was young with my stepson. Because neither of his parents knew nor did I.

I made the same comment above. I have these seats all she needs to do is lower the headrest and that will position the shoulder straps at the right height for the boys no need to uninstall the seat. The red part should be at their shoulders. I hate speaking up for fear of making someone feel bad. But i made mistakes with my older ones and I'm thankful more seasoned moms spoke up when it was my kids safety on the line.

Everyone is talking about the car seat safety which I 100% support too, but I just want to mention the tylenol situation. Unless they were having symptoms of being sick (idk if they were or weren’t, this is only a 19 min video obvs), tylenol isn’t meant to be used as a sleeping aid. Medications should not be given just to go to sleep, and using it like that could cause a dependency from kids or parents. Just thought I should mention it; again, we dont all know what is going on fully and I know y’all are doing your best. Sweet family!

I completely agree! It’s pure laziness! If the real reason they faced them forward was because it’s dangerous with only one parent is in the car, they should have rear faced them on the 12 hour ride with both parents in the car. @@lilyb5850 @amy casey I don't mean any hate whatsoever but the scene with him sleeping where his entire top chest and arm was just out of the straps freely literally like made my heart dropping my stomach. Cuz all it takes is one little accident , not even their fault at all it could be another driver's fault entirely just slightly bumping them on the back or on the side and that little boy could lose his life. I always look at it as better safe than sorry no matter what. When I was pregnant with my son people were on me constantly about making sure his straps were correct once he was born and my brother-in-law's wife is huge on car seat safety and the very first time she met by someone he was a week old she completely adjusted his car seat straps for me and then did it again when he was about six months old. I didn't take any offense to it whatsoever because I just looked at it as she's doing it because she cares and it's for the safety of my child. So hopefully Sophie doesn't take any hate or real feelings about these comments, if she and sees them, but I really hope that she does cuz I wouldn't want something to happen to those little boys because I know how much she loves them and I know she would never forgive herself if something happened to them over something as stupid as their straps not being tight enough or positioned properly. Nothing pisses me off more than parents refusing to educate themselves on car seat safety!! First off, I’m pretty sure they are not even in the right car seat. It looks like they’re in a booster that’s meant for children 40lbs-100lbs. Second, they NEED to be rear facing. While it may not be the easiest thing for you it most definitely is the safest. Forward facing them too young can be life threatening. Third, their straps NEED to be AT or right above their shoulders. Fourth, The straps NEED to tight enough that you can not pinch any slack. Fifth, The chest clip NEEDS to be alined with their arm pits. Lastly, make sure BOTH of their arms are under the straps and buckled in 🤦🏽‍♀️ I don’t mean to sound rude but considering I’ve seen countless people comment on countless videos and explain that you need to buckle them correctly and you still don’t is absolutely outrageous. It’s literally LIFE OR DEATH. Think about your children’s safety.

Other people have said things but I’m going to say it again in the hopes that you’ll see at least one of these comments. The car seats should be rear facing until at least two. That’s not a parenting choice. I understand it’s harder with them rear facing but there are car mirrors for that. Their chest clips were no where near placed correctly, the straps do not pass the pinch test, the backs were not placed correctly, and one of their arms was not even under the strap. I completely understand how this sounds like mom shaming, but this is a serious safety issue. You can be the best driver in the world but that doesn’t mean the person next to you is. I think you guys are great parents, especially for your age, but this is not about convenience or keeping your kids from being upset in the car. Please look up car seat safety and follow the seat manual. I am not trying to mom shame (or dad shame in Josh’s case) but want the best for your kids.

It seems like the boy’s car seat straps need to be tighter if they can wiggle around so much and especially because one of them had a whole arm out of the strap. The chest bar needs to be on their CHEST, not any lower or else it could actually cause them physical harm if you were to get into an accident. There is also no excuse for having them facing forward this soon. They make car seat mirrors that strap onto the seat so you can still see them while rear facing. They are 100 times safer rear facing and you should be trying to keep them that way for as long as possible. Just coming from a place of concern for the boys. Car seat safety is SO important and mustn’t be taken lightly. You can even go to your local fire department for free and they can help you with correct placement based on your child’s height and weight if you’re unsure.

I just wanted to say, I have 23 month old twins and we use backseat mirrors to be able to see the twins. I drive with BOTH babies by myself all of the time and the mirrors help. I don't think it's necessary to move them yet.... We still haven't changed them to forward facing because it isn't legal (where I am) until 2 years old, and even then, I wouldn't risk it anyways. It's safer to keep them rear-facing for as long as possible.

@@elihar689 Ah yes. Call me a bitch for a simple comment. I never said anything negative or shameful about Sophie, I was just sharing my experience with MY twins, and also suggesting ways to be able to keep her babies rear-facing for longer.. since it is statistically safer to keep children rear-facing for as long as possible. Not to mention it is actually illegal to forward-face an infant younger than two (which Sophie just clearly did). But just ignore that, I guess. It shows your immaturity. She is practicing unsafe car seat safety in this vlog. It doesn't hurt to let someone know if they're doing something that could harm their child(dren). That's all.
@laurancarillon
@laurancarillon 3 жыл бұрын
****PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A NEGATIVE COMMENT**** First I want to say I love you and your boys and your whole little family, including josh lol you guys are doing a great job being parents at such a young age. I’m not that much older than you, I’m 21, but I couldn’t imagine having a child that young and be “perfect” at everything. Parenting comes with mistakes and that’s okay. I have driven with a toddler for like 17 hours and it’s HARD. Motherhood is about learning and adjusting and adapting, you are doing an amazing job and honestly a much better job than most people older than you. When I say this don’t think I’m like shaming you or judging you please. I’d recommend rear facing for as long as possible. But honestly? Just make sure you have buckled them in properly no arms out, then chest piece is meant to go right on their upper chest so if you crash it won’t hurt their internal organs. Always do the pinch test on the straps to see if they are tight enough. They might “look” uncomfortable but seat belts aren’t meant for us to be comfortable they are meant to keep us safe. When I say this keep in mind I’m not mom shaming you, hell I didn’t know about how important strap placement and chest pieces were until someone informed me. And I always tell my husband and my mother in law and my parents every time they take care of my son or are around my son how to put him in the car seat. We get so much pressure from my mother in law to turn him to face forward but there is no reason to until he is 2 or has exceeded the weight limit. In regards to the Tylenol, WE WEREN’T THERE. Did you guys hear that?? WE WEREN’T THERE. There was like a few second clips about it, we don’t know if those two beautiful baby boys were teething or had ear aches or all of the fucking above. Around this age they are bound to start teething for their second molar and holy shit I’m sure that hurts. There is nothing wrong with giving them some Tylenol as long as she isn’t doing it like EVERY SINGLE DAY/NIGHT. WE DON’T KNOW SHIT WHEN IT COMES TO HER LIFE. She allows us to see parts of her life, but that doesn’t mean we know everything about her life or her. She is allowed to have privacy and honestly has no obligation to post videos but she does because she knows we like seeing them and she loves making them. But the constant making her feel like she’s a bad mom (which btw Sophie you are an amazing mom don’t let anyone tell you otherwise) is only going to make her feel like there is no point for her to post. Being a mom is so hard, being a YOUNG mom has a wholeeee lot of different challenges. But that doesn’t mean you are entitled to judge her or anyone because they are a young mom. I have faced so much criticism for just being pregnant at a young age, it’s honestly so fucking ridiculous. You can inform her and make sure you do I guess your part in helping another mother, but don’t make her feel like she’s a bad mom when trying to let her know something. We are all learning as mothers, I’m sure all of us have made a mistake more than once as a mom and that’s OKAY. I love you Sophie! Keep on doing you, you are doing a great job. ❤️

Gentle guidance from one mom to another. We have three of these Graco Tranzitions 3-1 carseats for our littles as well. The headrest needs to be moved down. The red part on the headrest should be at shoulder height which would make the seatbelt straps be at the proper place as well. At or just above their shoulders. The only protection the car seats are currently providing is a mild resistance if the brakes were to be tapped (meaning they wouldn't slip onto the floor of the car if the car needed to quickly break for a traffic jam or stop sign). Headrest, tightness of the straps (with the straps being secure on both shoulders) and the position of the buckle are *literally* the lifeline your children have if a crash were to occur. In their current car seats, they would be ejected out of the seat upon immediate impact of a crash and/or their lungs, stomach, & intestines punctured due to incorrect position of the buckle. :(
