I'm seeing all sorts of red flags with this woman. The biggest ones probably being that she sees her own problems as more important than her children's problems ("menopause beats puberty"), and she feels like her daughter is somehow competition ("she can't win against me"). As someone who grew up with an abusive parent, and has been in multiple abusive friendships, these are things that make me yell at everyone to stay as far away from this woman as possible.

Presenter: Do you make your son work too? Mum: No, he’s in Highschool. Honestly this made me very upset for the girl, I’m not sure what country it is but it’s the same for most of Asia especially in Japan and Korea for the male children to be favoured. I feel a lot of empathy for this young girl, her future is more than working in a salon. Her mother is exploiting her own daughter for cheap labour, childhood are our most vulnerable and important years. Many mental traumas we gave during adulthood stem for childhood. Your daughter has all the time to be an adult when the time comes, but she only has 19 years of being a teen, or as some may even say 18. Let her be a child, let her be a teen because it’s very limited compared to adulthood and you only get one experience. She needs to be mixing with her peers, going to eat out with her friends and going to the park and not worrying about only have an hour or two to spend with them, and even then she might not go out with her friends altogether since she is so tired from being worked. I hope the daughter put her foot down, but I really doubt it in Asian societies. South Korea has especially come a long way do not get me wrong, but they still have major issues with gender, plastic surgery, and overworked idols. “She can’t win against me” I can’t believe the words coming out this “mother’s” mouth. Families shouldn’t be competing it’s extremely toxic and needs to STOP. What is this? A game of who deserves more pity? I used to have the same with my mother but under different context, she used to compete with my body and say things like “My waist is really small, but you have broader shoulders like Amanda (her sister)” and it’s a very harmful environment for young girls to deal with any competing whether it be with body, or pity etc My heart goes out to her! ❤️

The mom basically makes her daughter work because getting someone else would mean she had to pay them at least minimum wage. She's obviously being manipulative in her twisting the truth and claiming to be the victim. The daughter is clearly scared of her. The mom is forcing far too much work on the daughter (not to mention the bs of not forcing the sons to have a share in the work) while being idle. This maybe because she wasn't allowed to work when she was younger and isn't used to having to do work but it's still unacceptable behaviour. And she then controls her kids from going out? Someone please get this woman some help and give these kids some proper care

She don't even allow me to go for part time job even when i insisted because she thinks it affects my studies. I am happy and proud of her. As a trainee, yes it is very competitive but she'd be pushing herself to be better and that is very different i think..

I'm not sure you know all the dirty details of being a trainee. While not every company is like this, trainees many times becomes salves. Their pay is in their housing, food, and training. By contract, the company sets an amount of money for living and training costs and takes it out of the pay. Many times, trainees work to the bone to make it as an idol in very poor conditions for over 10 years. Then, even when they make it, they don't see their fairs share. The company takes more out of their pay for costumes, stages, and concert costs. Only if you're the top top names can you become rich as an idol. That's why so many singers try to make it as an actor. Even actors are overworked, but that's a different topic. This is a good article to go into more detail. www.eatyourkimchi.com/kpop-slave-contracts/

I hate when young women go through puberty and people love to say this is the phase when they start complaining about everything, which is false. they are growing up so as they are seeing things differently some will start to voice their concerns of what they do and do not like. therefore this young girl is valid in her complaints. i hate when people make it sound like young women whine for no reason when her mother an older woman is mean asf. how she treats her daughter is the exact reason why children would run away, be depressed & possibly attempt/commit suicide.

If she will have her daughter work in their salon she should have her sons work in there too. It's bad enough that the daughter do all of the works from their salon to their home -- being forbade to hang out with friends, be a teenager and enjoy her youth was worst. Bad parenting, look at the daughter, she's too skinny, the food she ate went down fast bcos she has to 'work' and do the household. It's really bad when a kid started helping a parent and be exploited --then blamed for volunteering.

But I think her mother took it too far, she's still a 12 year old kid who needs her own time alone and with her friends to properly grow up. Let her enjoy her childhood and not ripped her off what she truly deserves. Also, regarding her older brother, I already feel some gender inequality going on... its normal. Westerners can't relate to us asians. I always help my parents with their work. Its nothing wrong. The fact that only her daughter is working is because her son decided to go to prep classes and thats why he doesnt get time to help her out. But what I understand is her daughter voiced her opinions late. You also have to understand that asians favor male child a lot. Its hard to swallow this fact but it is very true.

@@samhue4194 Im an Asian and i come from a "not rich" country, but this is wrong okay? she have to do so much work when her mom treats her brother better. itsn fair, and illegal as weel. and like u can see, her brother even not good at study. what about asian? asian children can be hurt by their own family and no one care? stop talking about what asian have to, i never wanna be an asian cause my childhood is suck. we have to change this shit, our junior are going to get childhood-inner-abuse just like us. i dont want it, thanks

i don't care what anybody says, this is basically child labor! The mom is a sad excuse of a proper mother and I wish her child the best, hopefully she stops working under her mother and rebels eventually. This isn't healthy, the girl's mother is awful

Omma needs to hire an employee. When the little girl said, “she’s lying through her teeth” I am like “yep.” I wouldn’t want my daughter exposed to chemicals in the shop at such a young age.

My heart breaks for that young girl. I've no idea why everyone was laughing when the mum kept digging a hole for herself. It just kept making me angrier. I pray this young girl has a lot more freedom now and can focus on herself and have fun!! Gahh

If this was America there'd be fights, people throwing the f word around. This is the most non aggressive confrontation I have ever seen. It's so refreshing
