Thank you very much for this review (and the first on the short scale). After watching this, I took the plunge on the 30 inch (which was pretty easy because it was on the low end of the usual price range - depending on source). It was playable straight out of the box - action nice and low, and even the intonation was correct. Very nice build quality, even the frets were smooth. I upgraded the pickup with a Bootstrap Palo Alto '51, with only the necessity to very slightly sand out the pickguard cut-out a little bit. It sounds and plays/feels great. I think that Glarry basses are the best deal out there right now.

I wish I had seen this video when I bought my squier bronco. I don’t know if I would have chosen the glarry over the squier (I haven’t seen them compared) but I would have seriously considered it. Great video!

Day and night difference. I did something similar to my Glarry Jazz bass with an aftermarket neck. I changed the pots, capacitor, and jack to quality parts, then I added Fender Noiseless Jazz pickups and Rotosound flatwound strings. Most of the parts I already had on hand and I enjoy working on basses so why not? I play it more than any other bass I have and my Fender Jazz stays in the case.

Great video. The Fralin is great, no doubt, but I actually preferred the original pickups in the examples with the drum track. The tone was more mellow and organ like whereas the Fralin sounded too dominant and in your face.

I bought a $15 blade hum canceling strat pickup from Amazon, and it sounds fine.

You should make a video showing how it sounds before and after. I would assume that a $15 strat pickup would be seriously lacking in the low end, but I'd love to be proven wrong. Paste a link in here if you make the video.

Worth it for less buzz for sure. The tone is only slightly improved, but its hard to work with a buzzy track

If that fingerboard has no finish you'll want some much sooner than later, brush on sanding sealer X3 will do. Not tung oil or something like that. Unfinished maple is guaranteed to eventually move and in this case very likely twist. This is the Achilles heel of all these Cort factory 2nds maple fingerboard necks Glarry puts on their guitars. Of the 3 full size basses I got to heavily mod during the lockdowns one came delivered with a twisted neck so I'm not dancing with Chicken Little here, it's a thing. The good news, here anyway, was the 34" scale PBass necks have more than enough meat on them to reshape the neck profile to your preference, don't know what this Musicmaster neck is like. I'd be tempted if I can find a discounted one on eBone, perhaps cut a pickguard for Mustang split coils and rout the body to accommodate. Maybe... Thanks for your bravery!

Thanks for the recommendation. Like 90% of my cheap guitars and basses have no finish on the fretboard so I’ll have to look into this. Wait, do you mean the back of the neck or the fretboard?

While the fralin is definitely “bassier,” the stock pickup gets my vote for a little more unique and mellow sound. Glarry did it again, and I’m gonna snag one of these cheapies. I plan on keeping it stock, we’ll see how it goes…
