Thank you, Teddy, for being willing to offer thorough presentations on more affordable watches. Two things with this watch: First, the crystal is extremely tall, and for a dress watch, it’d be nice if Times flattened it a bit. Second, my thought is that the dial could be improved by removing the word “QUARTZ” at the six o’clock position. Again, thank you for the informative video that highlights how watches at this price point can be the gateways into a life of watch interest.

A "back to basics" strategy is a good idea and Timex obviously sees value in issuing better quality analog watches. However, some of the below comments pointing out problems Timex has some work to do in terms of QC. None the less, watches like this are a good sign that Timex is looking to "up its game."

Even as a Timex fan, g-shock wins. They are a true engineer marvel for modern day quartz movement, even at the basic level you find in GA-100 while still remaining affordable. Naturally you can blow a lot of money on a G too. There are model ranges over a grand. But even though I absolutely adore, am amazed and appreciate my Bulova Lunar Pilot movement. G-Shock is my daily that you just don’t have to care about. Forget it’s on. As I said, I’m also a Timex fan. But I must say the last few years of releases have been painfully poor quality. I’ve sent so many purchases back due to being DOA, faulty within a week of wear. And I’m really careful with most of my watches apart from my G-Shock. All my watches look new. Even my 40 year old Vostok that my late brother wore as a paratrooper in the Soviet army. But I have to say, while Timex’s watches look fantastic in my opinion, I’m sad to say even as a fan that their latest releases over the last few years have been incredibly poor quality. I only have my Expedition Scout that still works. The rest have been sold for parts or were sent back to Timex for refunds. The MK1 I had was replaced three times. DOA, then the replacements hands fell off, and the third time the crystal was floating around in the box when it arrived. Sure I could pop it back on, but what sort of peace of mind does this give you? I’m a fan, but I’m not dumb. I was hoping the new releases with James Brand would be great. But lots of customer reviews suggest poor quality yet again. Faulty movements, misaligned hands, poor crown and stem engagement, and so on. Sad news when I was hoping the suggests specs were an indication of a new era for Timex.

I dig it, but I'm a sucker for day date watches. I'm always a little leery of Timex quartz models cause the last one I had was so loud - like a metronome, tell-tale heart loud. Also, I feel like Teddy is starting give off some Bond Villain vibes sitting behind that desk.

If it’s any help, I have both a cheapie $40 Expedition model and then recently acquired the root beer Q Timex and the Q is not nearly as loud, using a Seiko movement. Hopefully this Q reissue will also be just as quiet.

Looks awesome, definitely overpriced for not knowing what movement is inside. For 10 bucks cheaper I can have an Orient with an in house movement and a better crystal. I think Timex is missing the boat with their vintage line. I love my Marlin Auto, but I can’t shake the feeling that it costs $100 more than a Bambino with better specs.

This thing isn't worth $20. A made in China watch with a cheap quartz movement and a seconds hand that doesn't hit its markers should be sold for the price of a cheap Chinese watch. $160 is $140 too much.

This is a terrible watch. The second hand doesn't even come close to hitting the markers. You can buy something for 10 dollars on the street that's better than this. Timex are trying to rip off people using brand history but supplying crap. People would be totally crazy to pay $160 for this rubbish. I can understand that you are actually promoting this trash as you are selling it. This is not a review, this is an advertisement that avoids the glaringly obvious problems and the totally rip off price they're charging. It's probably made in China at the same factories that make $5 quartz watches.

You seen to think saying “the second hand doesn’t hit the mark” makes the whole watch rubbish, and there is an imaginary $10 dollar watch on the street which is better. What $10 watch are you referring too? I’m not defending Timex, you are of course welcome to say whatever you want, but if you are going rant about what a ripoff Timex is, then at least provide some actual watches as an alternative. Before you go on about how I don’t know anything about watches, I have a large collection with very expensive and some very affordable watches. Each one collected with careful and research Timex watches are mass produced and often of lower quality parts that make them affordable. As a result sometimes the build quality is hit and miss. If I received a watch from Timex and the second didn’t hit the marks, I would just return it and request a refund or replacement. You cannot simply make judgments about a watch or a brand based on a video someone makes on KZbin, and this KZbinr is a salesman you he tells you upfront so no surprises there. Try to enjoy the watch collecting experience it’s a lot of fun I’ve been doing it since I was a kid.

@@mikequinlan9585 I have quite a bit collection of watches, from Omega, Orient, Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, Citizen, Christopher Ward, and even Casio and Casio G-Shocks. For $160 they should at least have some decent quality control to ensure the movement is lined up correctly. As you say yourself they use low quality parts, build quality is hit and miss, that's why it's no different to a cheap $10 Ali Express quartz watch. As the watches are mainly produced in China, and the Philippines, likely for a couple of dollars, they could probably sell them $20 and still make a big profit. As I said, they use the brand name to sell trash, much like Swatch with the plastic Moonswatches.

Okay so now it’s Swatch that makes trash watches!? Swatch is the world’s largest watch maker under the Swatch company groups are the following brands, including ETA, Blancpain, Breguet, Glashütte Original, Harry Winston, Omega, Longines, Tissot, Mido, Hamilton, Certina, and Rado. Seems to me even you would have to agree Swatch knows something about making quality time pieces. Further, I have personal experience using and abusing a Swatch watch on construction sites during hot humid summers and the watch never missed a beat! I also have a 50 year old Timex from my uncle, an air plane mechanic in the 1960 and 70’d that was used and abused daily for twenty years and it still works fine, it looks terrible, but it works and that is why Timex is famous. If you just want to hate on a company first learn something about the product. You don’t seem to have any personal experience with these watches you’re trashing. I have decades of experience using both Timex and Swatch branded watches in sometimes extreme environments, when you rely on these watches and they come through they gain your respect. Are the all the Timex and Swatch Watches perfect? No anything that is mass produced will occasionally have defects, most don’t and they work great. The same cannot be said of the so called $10 watch.

Remarkably close to the original, 78 had different hands, it’s still as ugly as the original, unsure how it sells or why TIMEX invested.
