I think it probably will go to other floors if you use a hotel keycard I saw a card slot near the top of the buttons.

I think what they do they enable the lift when the restaurant is open and when it’s closed they enable it to so it can use the other floors

do you need a key to get up to polaris or is it only open at sertain times so the elevator is only express when polaris is open?

I rode these last night and day before and found out Polaris is on Floor 25 (😮). Floors 2-22 are guest rooms, 23 is the Handicapped Restroom, 24 is the Kitchen for Polaris, and 25 is Dining Room for Polaris. This Was Said By Someone Stationed near both elevators. (One can ONLY GO UP TO Polaris and one Can Only go down but accesses every other floor, besides 23-24) neat stuff

Update at Jan 30 2019 the elevators are now key-card-e-vators. only L, LL1 LL2 LL3 are only accessible :(

Back in January this year, I stayed at the Hilton in Costa Mesa, California. They have an atrium with 4 glass elevators. There are 7 floors plus 2 basement floors. This kinda reminded me of that.

When the restaurant is not open, that elevator usually functions as a normal guest elevator. Since only 2 (if I recall) elevators serve the restaurant, this elevator can be removed from guest floor service and operated as an express shuttle between the restaurant and lobby. (at 0:10 the key switch for the restaurant service mode is visible)
