In February 2024, there’s a three-day holiday weekend. During such micro-holidays, I usually travel somewhere near Bangkok. While I often choose Hua Hin, I’ve always wanted to spend a night in Kaeng Krachan, which is just an hour's drive before Hua Hin. However, I’ve preferred Hua Hin because I like the beaches more than the inland lakes or waterfalls. It was only a matter of time before I decided to stay in Kaeng Krachan, and now I’m finally doing it.
I visited Kaeng Krachan National Park a long time ago, but I didn’t explore popular spots like the Panoentung scenic point, which is known for its morning sea of clouds-something I avoid because I dislike getting up early.
On this trip, I’m looking for a standard resort with good facilities in Kaeng Krachan. I recently realized that Kaeng Krachan isn’t just a national park; people also visit for activities similar to those in places like Nakhon Nayok. The water from Kaeng Krachan Dam is the source of the Phetchaburi River, which I’ve seen in Phetchaburi. Although the river looks muddy there, it’s actually clear at the river’s source. Many resorts line both sides of the river, where visitors enjoy rafting. Surprisingly, I’ve never experienced this before.
There are also other attractions in the area that I haven’t visited, so this will be my first experience. This is Part 1: Journey from Bangkok to The Tree Riverside Kaeng Krachan Resort.
