people think that once the next gen hardware comes out that is makes there current system useless. its kinda like phone. people want the new one every year. even though the current one they have does everything they need with no issue. people should hang on to there tech for 3-4 years before upgrading. the only time it should be fully replaced is if the system can no longer process the programs you need

Impressive build for the price. As a PC flipper the 3600/x/xt, paired with either a 1080 or 5600xt equate to a killer build. For a step up the 5600x paired with the 5700xt is an amazing combo as well. I definitely can see AM4 giving us another 5 years of nice budget builds for a good price.

for those who don't need nvidia badge, the 1660 super currently on ebay go for around $130 with shipping, pre tax, you could do slightly better with patience, but all the prices I list are the "right this second" price, not "well, one time I saw it as low as XYZ". for almost the same performance you could get a 5500xt or 6500xt for $90 and even buy a slightly cheaper CPU to shoot under that $300 mark. For around 1660 super price, the 5600xt is a good perf boost. If you find you have extra to spend, yes the 3600 could support a heavier card, but the price/perf ratio gets a bit unbalanced after that, so storage would be the best recommendation, but if you don't want to go that route, a Ryzen 3600 pushes cards in the $200+ range pretty easily. I have a 6800xt paired with a R3600 with 4X8 GB RAM and I'm not missing much out of my GPU but maybe the top 10% on some games its underutilized, nothing I need to run out CPU shopping over until I'm ready to pull the trigger on a DDR5 platform. A few years ago, I booted up my old R2600 (currently $35 used) and RX 580 8GB ($60 used) and tried it on all my games. Yeah, Cyberpunk was pretty underwhelming, but I'm pretty spoiled on my current rig, but most games in the last 5 years or so were just fine at 1080p mid/low settings. It was fun enough that, if it was all I had, I'd be fine. The main reason I'd get the 1TB drive is that even a modern SSD runs a lot faster when not full, so calculate your storage responsibly with a 10-20% empty space margin.

My first PC was a Ryzen 2600x system using an asrock b450 pro4 motherboard, 16gb of 3200mhz ram, and a 1650 super...the motherboard went, but luckily it went right around the time my friend upgraded his system, so i got a sweet deal swapping my 1650 super, ram sticks, and 2600x (plus a small amount of cash) for his MSI motherboard, a 1660 super, a 2700x, and 32gb of the same speed ram. It wasnt the hugest jump in performance, but it was enough to allow me to play newer games more effectively at 1080p, so it was definitely a sweet deal, and im still chugging along with the PC to this day, and even better my friend ended up using the parts i traded him to help his cousin build her first PC, so it was a win-win all around.

IMO there's a easy way to start your next PC build: 1. Check GPU prices new/used. 2. Check the prices of phased out office PCs and what one would cost combined with a modern low-power GPU. 3. Check the prices / performance of used PC builds and how they stack up in comparsion. Usually, it's cheaper to start with some sort of hardware bundled together or buy a whole PC and change the GPU. Another consideration should be weither or not a upgrade makes a significant difference for your use case. For example, I think the 1060 6GB (or 8GB 480/580) is still "good enough" for most stuff and going to a 1660 Super (6GB) doesn't really make a whole lot of difference on weither or not something is playable.

It would be better to throw few bucks more and get a better cooler than a stock amd cooler especially if you use ryzen 3000 series of cpu's . TechYesCity made a video about the potential degredation of the 3600 and he suggested to get a better cooler and not use the stock cooler . Phazer Tech has a video too and he found out that the memory controller of the cpu degraded and not so much the cpu itself . Some maybe fine with their cpu's and their stock coolers but it's good to have one piece in mind .

Biggest thing I would change is to go with a used asrock, asus, gigabyte, or msi mobo. If there's any more room in the budget, I would go with 2x16gb of ram. It's $43 vs $26 right now for that same silicon power kit. Also an inexpensive thermalright cooler like the Assassin X is only $18. The main thing is the mobo though

When buying a motherboard from Aliexpress, while the cheap Chinese boards are fine, they have some weird issues, I would have purchased a used board from Ali from a major brand, I purchased both a Kllisre b450 board in a kit with a 5600 and 16 gigs of DDR, got a great deal but had some really odd issues no drivers or firmware updates and I could not install windows 11 until I installed the AMD package drivers in windows 10. I had no issues with the gigabyte GA-450M DS3H that cost a little more.

I totally expected it to be a gtx 1060 build. Honestly, depending on the type of games you play, you might wanna go for a R5 5600 + Gtx 1060. Esport games should get a lot more fps that way and the 1060 doesn't heavily bottleneck for those. Should get 400 fps @1080p in Rocket League and Valorant, ~200 fps in fortnite and cs2. But then again, that'd be a pretty specific usecase and i believe your configuration does a lot better for pretty much everything else 😅 100$ more and you can probably squeeze a better mainboard, R5 5600 and a 5700xt in there. That'd be a pretty damn solid rig without noticable drawbacks at 1080p i reckon

yup..... hes not wrong here for ultra budget but i always tell gamers to put your cash into the mobo FIRST. 1. much better sound 2. will have type c port, and way more usb 2/3 and prob have usb 3.2 3. MUCH better vrm cooling as you stated 4. 4 ram slots 5. Q flash 6. will have better wifi/bluetooth 7. 2-4 nvme slots, not 1 8. way more pcie 9. way better bios there are other factors but that is why you never skip out on the mobo.... you can always upgrade EVERYTHING later these cheap mobos including in the video you can only choose 1 of those upgrades above, like type c expansion, but no matter what you can NOT choose better cooling, q flash, 4 ram slots, etc new gamers always pick/invest into the mobo first... brand new spend 100, used you can find good ones for 75

@@Kevin-vh6nnyea you do have a bunch of solid points for putting little more money into that a build, but that machinist b450 and ryzen 3600 on aliexpress can be bought for around 85-90$ with coupons after taxes, that's price of new better motherboards, the 6 core ryzens don't rly stress the vrms. So for a very limited budget they are still a great buy if it fits your use case. Not to discount your points, very valid ones. Just looking at a 350$ build so it fits this perfectly. But yes if it is in the budget. There are some nice Chinese ones even with better vrm heatsinks and pcie for under 70$ which if you got the extra 20-30$ to spend, Def decent idea

wouldn't it be better to get amd to run linux to squeeze any extra performance out of the build? Just a suggestion, correct me if im wrong(i use arch btw)

Instead of the 1660 super, I would've gone for the RX Vega 56. It can be had for the same price, is a bit more powerful and has 8gb of vram

Didn't AMD stop releasing new drivers for the Vega? It doesn't sound like a smart move to get one if they did. At least not for new games or for games as service.

This one hundred percent very repeatable but I’d recommend to anyone looking to build their own budget pc, just to wait and snipe some deals like he said the 5700xt or you can keep your eyes pealed for Rtx 2060 and 2060 supers I got mine for 100 bucks and it’s perfect.

rx 5700 non xt is pretty much the same price, 2gb more vram, and is slightly faster. also a 1st gen ryzen 5 can be had for half the price you paid for the 3rd gen. use that money to get a actual name brand mobo and overclock to make up the difference.

No. But if you want to upgrade but stay at the 65w power limit get a 5700x. Or if the power is not an issue just go all out on a 3d chip.
