Welcome back to WE|Sail, on this episode we slowly adjust back into boat life. WE have spent a lot of time working hard on the boat and the boat projects are still forefront of our days, but at least we're back on the water. Erica gets a chance to do yoga with the cruisers in the area on the beach while Warren and Tom investigate another problem with the dingy.
WE then make a last minute decision to sail 500 miles south down to the Tuamotus after looking over the weather, realizing that if we don't leave now then we might now have a good weather window to go to the beautiful islands for a while! Sometimes you just have to go with the wind!

Your temporary fix of the outboard is a good one, but I wonder what the longevity will be when the material is exposed to fuel. Easier said than done where you are, but it might make sense to add a couple sheets of gasket material to the spares bin. Glad to hear the the new props and bottom paint is working out so well!

Hey we have definitely been wondering as well!! I regret not taking a poll when we filmed that, asking how long everyone thought it would last for LOL! Well it’s been two months and still running strong, so I don’t know! But ya agreed, will be getting true gasket material

Kids, set the damn hook when you first feel the tug that the fish is on! Then keep the tip of the rod pointing up to keep tension on the line. When the tension loosens, the fish will shake it's head to try to pop the lure out. Great sized tuna Brian hauled in...big eye tuna? Poor Warren with engine problems again

You can also use a playing cards. They are about the right thickness. As far as the motor only running with the chock out or on. Check the jets in the Carburetor. All it takes is a spec of sand or dirt to block it. Ok Thank You again for a Great video. And until next time ⏲️, Aloha from your friends on the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻

I have made gaskets with a thick phone book cover for carb before. There are couple vent holes in carbs that get plugged. we blew them out with high pressure and also had to soak a couple overnight in carb cleaner(diesel also works) then blow them out to get low idle to work right. Some carbs its just cheaper buying a new one than spending all the time fixing it. We charged $60hour 10 years ago and a new carb usually was about same price as 2 hours labor.

We use this gasket stuff in a tube, its usually blue, I'd have to go get it to tell you the brand. It works as a gasket and is not gasoline permeable. Sorry I can't remember the brand name not that you'd have the same brands in a french speaking country. Oh, remembering, its Permatex ! $6 in the states. Just trying to figure out when I first started watching Delos. There is a little confusion back in the earliest videos, 13 years to 10 years with nothing in between including the part where Brady was working in Australia in the Pizza place and Brian met Kaza, and just how Josje was actually met (she is kiwi so not sure how that happened). I might just be confused. I was once a patron of theirs. Very early Patreon.

I have learned that if any small Eng carb to intake gasket leaks it will not idle well at all. When you ran it wide open for a bit the new home made gasket probably got hot and sealed. Just a thought.

that marlin did you a favor by getting off. they're a workout to bring in and then they're dangerous to land with all the various things in the way on the stern of that boat, actually as you probably know they're dangerous to land even on a full blown sportfishing boat.

Carrying some gasket paper would help. Dunno why we don't see boats with this. It will work for many uses. NOT head gasket or any fully rubber gasket or any exhaust manifold gasket. But many other uses.

Hey guys, been watching your show for years now and I share episodes with all my friends and family. My wife and I were talking about eventually getting to do this. We have kids, all but one still in the house. One thing we wondered is what it costs to fly in friends and family to some of these places you're at? Is it extremely expensive? Is it realistic to be able to fly family in every other month?

@WEsail
@WEsail 5 ай бұрын
And to answer your question, it depends… when we were in Mexico and the Caribbean it was not that bad, but now we are in French Polynesia and it’s WAY more expensive, like around $1000 per person round trip. But there are only a few flights per day INTO FP, and often only one flight per day FROM FP to neighboring islands so it’s not uncommon to have to get a hotel or airBNB for the night, again upping the costs… but it can be done!

Great video! We are in Salvador, Brazil, sailed from Mindelo, Cape Verde, being a good stop. You are going to regret not crossing the equator, respectfully suggesting an early January departure from Mindelo, making it to Salvador in time for Carnival in February. You should consider visiting the protected anchorage at Baia Do Aratu (S12.47, W38.27), approximately 10nm north of Salvador in the Bay of All Saints, Bahia, Brazil. It is shaped like a bowl, surrounded by low-lying hills, virtually undeveloped, probably the most protected anchorage we have ever been in, and the marina's community is safe.
