i like the trainer strike aircraft. they're fun to take into air sim and mess around with, do some ground strike with guided munitions and then defend yourself from anyone that might want to mess with you. they're also just an aesthetic

It's possible that gaijin is trying to add new unique vehicles that do not change the meta so as to not make whoever has the event vehicle have an unfair advantage over other players. This is all just guesswork though

Also as some other review pointed out. There is an F4 in the tech tree at the same BR that can carry the same amount of Maverick missiles, further making the A7K absolutely useless. F4E Phantom II

It carries basically the same armaments as the a10 early and it's only advantage is that it's a little faster. It doesn't even get the good guided bombs like the a7e

Don't underestimate how much of a differnce a targeting pod can make. But you're generally right, at 11.0 the flight performance starts to matter more. But if there's no opposition up (enemy planes/helis or SPAA), the A-7K will be much better due to the pod.

​@@gavinlightfoot5521 honestly the GBU-8 is the best you can ask for. Since the Walleye is also TV guided they both fail in poor weather and both are hopeless at tracking moving targets unless you're right over the battlefield so the extra explosive mass of the GBU-8 makes them more effective on average since you can just sling them towards where you think enemies are (ground vehicles, even SPAA, still aren't visible to aircraft at a distance) and hope for the best.

@@sometoastxd Yeah, I have been frustrated many times when flying out the A-7E... I know. But when it works, it works very well due to the targeting pod. Also The Gr7 was really good (perhaps stupendously good) for CAS at 11.0, but well, it's 11.7 now so it's hard to compare directly. I hope US gets something with some flight performance and a pod soon, so far US got only either a pod or flight performance and it's quite frustrating there isn't one with both like other nations (including minor nations at this point).

Here's the thing about the A7K, the F4E exists and does everything it can do (minus the 30mm brrrrt's) and usually better. All the A7's are over tiered and power crept from the days where they had the only standoff guided air to ground munitions. Now a days, it wouldn't be out of place next to the A10 and Su25 in terms of capability.

8:32 very important note here. The TV guided weapons on this aircraft are "perfectly capable" only when weather conditions are good. Clouds and low light conditions will cause them to lose track. And a lack of IR guidance makes locking moving targets nearly impossible as well as hard to even notice as a lock on the ground looks the same. This plane is horrifically overtiered and it can't even be explained away when something like the Harrier GR7 exists at the same BR range in top tier.

Can you noy use the FLIR pod for TV bombs and rockets? I noticed you never used the pod. On the A7E, the pod is very useful as it doesn't kick the camera out of lock view when dropping Walleyes, allowing for rapid targeting and bomb dropping.

You can, but with no auto-tracker. While recording for this vid I actually never found myself out doing CAS on a night match, so I never had the need to use it - it works basically the same as the tech tree A-7's pod though.

Hopefully, this will be the first top tier event vehicle I will earn. I’ve got the Alecto and Po-2M in the past but they were the low tier prizes. And also I was playing those events to sell the rewards to afford the Premium Sherman Calliope. Which I still haven’t got. I debated doing the same for this event prize but after 3 failed attempts at getting a top tier prize (was on track to get the German Tornado in the Winter Event but a family emergency came up and I found myself on the other side of the globe with no time to get it) I decided that I’m going to keep the Corsair if I actually manage to stick through the grind. I like the look of it, and I would have earned it. I have no real idea how to play top tier jets so I’ll probably only fly it out in test drives and custom matches. But man will I enjoy flying that beauty of a jet.

tip for targeting. set the point of interest near where you are looking for targets and the tv view will be looking there when you switch to it.

So I've had this vehicle for awhile and recently got the missiles and I can't stay alive to use them before a Pantsir takes me out within 20 seconds of me spawning. Flare/Chaff combo not doing much either.

The entire a7 family is severely underwhelming and a prime example as to why planes need a different br for air, ground and naval. It's br is completely unjustified as it's basically an a7d but with aim9Ls (which are on a 10.0 premium). It, along with the a7d should be 10.0 and the a7e should go down to 10.3.

Gaijin keeps getting more and more insane with top-tier. I thought the Italian F-104 series was bad, fighting F-14s and Mirage 2000s with nothing but a good top speed and decent-to-good missiles. I thought the Tornado IDS was bad, fighting the same PLUS F-16s and MiG-29s with even LESS performance and LESS missiles. Now, we have a subsonic ground-pounder at 11.0, fighting F-16s and MiG-29s purely because it has two AIM-9Ls. Gaijin... stop.

I'm a new-ish player to War thunder, and when I saw this event come out I knew I needed this vehicle. I'm so far on my fifth day on grinding and I gotta say, I've never been so stressed out when playing any video game like this. Out of all the reviews I've seen, this is the best I found. Great video!

I find that the Mobile Infantry event is the way to go for score. Quick, get to the battle sooner. No repair cost or SP for spawning. Get points easy. Even if it’s just dying you get like 150 score for it. 4 different mechs. 2 spawns for each. That’s 1200 score for being the absolute worst you possibly can. And the battles are shorter so you can get more in the same time it would take you to play normal matches. Remember to use the MBT at some point in each match because it still gives you the Rank 7 multiplier. So I’ll finish the Mark of Distinction objective of 40k score for the infantry event stuff. And I will have between 50-60k towards the Crafting event score objective.

@@night7185 Mavericks use HEAT which don’t reliably one-hit kill most tanks, along with the fact that targeting ground targets itself is already tedious with the garbage TV camera. Not unlike the Mig-27K’s missiles which use HE and have an insane range on an already powerful airframe that can go high-altitude from spawn, the only other notable ground attacker equal to the Mig-27 is the Harrier, which is subsonic and can’t climb nearly as well with a full payload, the Pantsir can just spawncamp subsonic ground-attackers, it didn’t need to be added to the game and the fact that you’re just saying “cope” as a defense, just demonstrates the kind of dumb, toxic player base of War Thunder who cries when the tech tree they main Isn’t blatantly OP

Great video! Honestly, despite the A-7K's current BR, I'm still planning on getting it one way or another, mostly because it's the only reward I'm interested in atm (The chinese "terminator" looks neat, but I don't have 9.7 China yet, so it would be gathering dust in my hangar for a while; and I don't play Naval often enough to warrant getting the Light Cruiser reward). While I am not gonna enjoy the stock grind with it, I'm still gonna be happy with owning it for the collection if nothing else

@@APMI-OFICIAL You can still play the A-7K or any other premium/event plane in the game even if you haven't unlocked that rank in the tech tree (providing that you have it, of course). Keep in mind that if you aren't super high up in the tech tree, it will be quite a learning curve

i dont think 10.7 is even good for this id put this at 10.3 and heres why, compare this to the A-10 (the tech tree one at 10.3), and the Su-25, it has less missiles than the A-10, can pretty much carry the same weapons as the A-10 aside from those brutal 30mm gunpods but then again the A-10 and the 25 both have 30mm internal guns anyway the A-7 only having the vulcan, the only advantage the A-7 has over these is speed and the 25 isnt all that much slower, and even in a downtier to 9.3 there are plenty of aircraft capable of catching the A-7 and countering it, youve got the Su-7s, Mig-21F and PFM, the F-104s and the Lightning

You'd be right if for air RB, all A-7s are overtiered for today's standards. But taking ground RB into consideration, 10.7 would make it pretty good. The A-7E does pretty okay at 10.7 for CAS, because a targeting pod enhances a CAS plane's efficiency by a lot. I imagine the A-7K does better as Mavericks have longer tracking range as well as good anti heli capability.

While this is a beautiful aircraft and has some great ground attack capabilities, this event, like all crafting events, is way too long and tedious to attempt. I've been grinding it since the event launched, and I haven't even received my first certificate yet. For such a big reveal, I believe this aircraft isn't worth the grind, from a personal standpoint.

This event would have been easy as hell if not for one mechanic they don’t mention. Once you have enough parts to assemble a suit, it forces you to do so when you try to disassemble them. Then once you’re assembling a suit you are blocked from disassembling any more. You click disassemble and it just turns red and only gives the “assemble” option. That means no more red broken pieces to scrap for extra parts, and no more orange pieces to repair. You have to just grind out crates after that. Also the shipping crate pieces have such a high requirement for dropping that there is no way to get the 10 a day you’re allowed, and you need 20 to create the shipping boxes needed to put the 5 suits in. I knew it was too good to be true when I already had 2 suits ready to assemble in just under 3 hours… knew there had to be something I was missing that would make it harder.
