I was a young lad of 9 when we used to dash home from school and down to green park to see what had brought the southbound Pines down from Manchester These films are a magnificent reminder of my memory of the S&D My Grandfather lived on the lower Bristol road at the bottom of ‘The Bank’ 1/50 Bath junction was Happy times seeing the 9 fs Clattering up and down to and from Bournemouth Thank you so much Alan Clifford

What a wonderful presentation. I was 5 and a half years old when Dr Beeching closed this line. Bournemouth was in in Hampshire then. I have watched the whole of your brilliant presentation on here, and I must say that it brings many memories back from the years of 1964 / 1965. THANKYOU

We got married on the 8th September 1962. We were on the last Pines express pulled by Evening Star to Bournemouth. Detonators on the line, first class tickets given by the station master who was a personal friend. Plus the press on hand to cover the event. What a very memorable day.

The last time I went on this line was in 1965. ( October 1965 ) It was my birthday. I was 5 years old. A friend and I, went to Midford last October ( 2021 ) and used electric cycles to go up as far as Wellow, and down as far as what I think is the A36 on the outskirts of Bath and just before Green Park Station. We got some what tired going back up through the two tunnels cycle tracks back to our main transport ( 1 in 50 gradient ) and so had to stop at Midford for some light refreshments at the Hope and Anchor Pub! LOL

Just want to say "thank-you" These videos have been a source of joy for me and an inspiration for my Exworthy Journeys. By the way, every so often we get a tantalising glimpse of the station pilot. Any chance of a video about "a day in the life of the pilot engine" on of these days?

Andrew these film just get better and better, so many of the shots you could actually be there. I love the shots done under the roof at BGP. The sounds also adds so much to it all. I'm so looking forward to the next one.

I am simply running out of superlatives for this masterpiece in modelling. The motive power is so enjoyable to see, but recently I have been taking great interest in the rolling stock, especially the freight wagons. Thanks for sharing Andrew. Cheers, Bob

As a Modeller myself i look at these videos and it just seems quite Surreal. How you can achieve such Incredible detail and Accuracy. Covering a vast scale is Truly Incredible. I have never seen anything like as good ever. The massive downside is it must be impossible to move and so the incredulous people like myself can never see it on display. For me, your achievements in Model Engineering are Truly World Beating quite incredible. Please take the most Massive Bow and continue to make us all salivate and turn green in envy! Congratulations!

what a fantastic video you must be very proud of this, it's brilliant my wife's Dad best friend and 2 uncles all worked there Dad was in the stores, she remembers taking her dads sandwiches to him and one of the station porters taking her over the lines as a 5/6 year old girl, when I was in Corsham Camp he told me about what was under the the Camp and about Box Tunnel I was a soldier sent from Germany to the school there for education I do know a bit about the camp because when we had dinner I saw my RAOC Corps Crest had been painted over about 50ty times if you can find a little girl to include on your layout it would be just grate :) what a shame to close a great station. I'm from Durham City LNER man like my Christine railway is in my blood ( hope you did not mind my little story )

Closing this classic line wasnt BRs finest moment what a usefull diversionary route it would have made was lucky to ride ''The Pines' a few times behind 9Fs and MN

With the representation of the last day of workings on the prototype S&D, I'm hoping that doesn't mean that you will now be dismantling the layout. I did notice that the last southbound Pines was longer this time - no doubt the result of more O-scale passengers than usual wanting tickets for the last run.
@bathgreenpark24852 жыл бұрын
No chance of the S&D being shelved. Yes the last southbound Pines was 8 coaches. Normally I run with just 7

I was lucky enough to have travelled on the down Pines, Tues, 21/8/62, age 16, 92220 + pilot 73049 to Ev Jnc. Gave a quick thanks to driver and fireman at BM West but never been able to establish since if it was messrs Beale/Smith. Returned to M/cr Thurs, 30/8/62 on up Pines, 73047 + pilot 73054 from Ev Jnc. Where may I view this excellent layout. Still struggling to achieve a layout of 75% size 82F in 4mm !!

Another brilliant video. I noticed that some S&D expresses were carrying BR headlamp codes. Did this actually happen do you know?
@bathgreenpark2485 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I try to remember to fit the right headcode. As a rule anything running on the S&D should have an S&D headcode and anything coming from the Mangotsfield direction will have the more normal BR headcodes. One can see photos of express trains on the S&D with the BR express headcode of lamps over eahc buffer particularly by 1962 with a bit of WR pressure by then!

Models like these will teach future generations more about how a railway worked than any 'preserved' line ever can;I believe they are of historical significance as any actual footage taken at the time is of pretty poor quality by todays standards.

Fabulous video of a superb model and a great tribute to the last Pines over the S & D 60 years ago. Thank you for all your hard work in putting this together! P.S. I have just uploaded my first video of my S & D inspired model kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqbZp2lnnpJ4nZY - it is nowhere near you standard but I get much enjoyment from it.
