Snails have eyes on the tips of their tentacles. The eyes of lung-breathing snails are located at the tips of the upper pair of tentacles. The lower pair of tentacles are used for smelling.
Vision
Snails have poor vision and can't see color or focus. However, they can sense light and dark, and can tell where the light source is. This helps them navigate towards darker areas.
Anatomy
Snails have a lens in their eyes, but they don't have muscles to focus images.
Regeneration
Apple snails have camera-type eyes with a lens, cornea, and retina. If their eyes are amputated, they can grow back completely within a month. This makes apple snails a good subject for studying how sensory organs regenerate.
Aquatic snails
Freshwater snails have eyes located at the base of their tentacles, rather than at the tips
