Good job getting things figured out to load and unload from the Landoll trailer. Thodes trailers are so useful to the towing companies.

👌👌👌👌 That was textbook recovery work. I realized that you could have used the Dolly if you had one but you guys did a fantastic job anyway. Everybody worked together and it went smooth. You guys have a great day!

Thank you! We were fortunate to all put our heads together to come up with a solution.
@KevinLowery4 күн бұрын
Cheap solution is a standard converter dolly. Snap it to the king pin and cross chain it to the landing gear then you rear tow the casualty. Old dollys can be found for cheap at auctions.

0:57 Thats a real nice heavy duty blue KW dump truck passing by here, a 10 wheeler w\ 3 tag axles! 👍🏻👌🏻 This is gonna be another good one I'm sure.👍🏻👌🏻🛠️⚙️🔗🚚🚜🏗️⛓️🦺🚧 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸✊🏻
@tdotw773 ай бұрын
Man there's really not too much holding the back axles on that end-dump trailer! It's really just a couple axles, a lil steel frame, then bolted right to thin aluminum, and nothing but the box supporting itself! Not a real strong set-up at all! Probably ok for light loads only....like foam or sawdust! 🤦🏻♂️😆 Stick with regular 10+ wheeler dumps and possibly a pup trailer if you really want to get larger loads! No way on one of these things though! 🚫🤦🏻♂️🤔🤷🏻♂️🦺🚧🚚 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅

Thank you! I would be open to getting both, but I would probably get the 44k dolly first given that it would provide a better overall solution for our operation.

Great job with what you have on hand I agree those dolly's are expensive and a time saver but how much would you use them for the cost ???
@glennjukes55814 ай бұрын
Can make up one from a used semi rear truck frame. A little time/welding/some steel. You don't have to tag or insurance it. Every time you use it-add a sweet fee to the bill.
@WilcoxGarageRecovery3 ай бұрын
For us, it's not so much about the the number of times a year we would use is vs. the cost. If we bought one, it would have its own space inside until we needed it, and we would have it for 20+ years. This particular instance, we were fortunate to have a spot so close to be able to dump the load, and then were able to haul it on the trailer because it wasn't too tall. If the scenario was different, we could have been left there scratching our heads.

Watched with pleasure and a lot of respect. The video was good. This was the first time that an issue like the one in the video was handled so well. Tools are an important part of success. Human influence is decisive, such as: do we do this this way or not? I look forward and waiting for your next video.

Nicely done. Seems to me a dolly would let you do a job like this solo with out the rotator. It's not just the direct cost, but the indirect cost of being able to do more with less.
@WilcoxGarageRecovery3 ай бұрын
You would still need a heavy wrecker or rotator to lift the trailer up and set it in the dolly for transport, but correct in your analysis of doing more with less, and a bigger time saver overall.

Whats the setup that was hauling the landoll ? Couldnt get a good look. Is that set up for a quick swap? Looked long , and with the front boxes. Or was camera playing tricks. (Depth perception ). Thanks.
@WilcoxGarageRecoveryАй бұрын
Yes, 2020 Pete with 305" WB that normally has a quickswap mounted on it. It's our go-to tow truck for 90% of our every day heavy tows

Good video. But you need serious training on how to chain broken equipment or anything on to your trailer. Outside of that, total professionals. 👍👍👍👍👍🍻
@raywilliams80764 ай бұрын
Question for ya, I see your under reach is pinned in a cradle, Is there an advantage to that or is it just personal preference?
@WilcoxGarageRecovery4 ай бұрын
That is the way the NRC Industries wrecker/ rotator bodies are made because of their slider system. That design allows the boom assembly to slide all the way to the tailboard.

Why not reversing the combination on your Landoll? After all, the combination drive to that new customer... That way the complete trailer would've been on the Landoll, instead of 3/4. And if lifting: why not lifting the uncoupled trailer completely, using a spreader-bar? So you could lifted that trailer higher, drive the Landoll under it, strap it down and be on your way? Pepe does that usually...
@WilcoxGarageRecovery3 ай бұрын
We were transporting it less than 10 miles, and this was quicker given that the customer could pull it off with their tractor. If we were going longer distance, the trailer would have been faced forward like you suggested.

Amateur hour. Could have saved a lot by just removing the tires from the front axle, chain it up and drive the trailer to the repair place. It was already moved and unloaded all on it's own lol. Landoll was a waste of time and customers money. Gotta pay for all those people standing around and that pretty paint somehow though.
@WilcoxGarageRecovery3 ай бұрын
You're right, we're amateurs.....with both axles on the trailer damaged, there was no reason state patrol even needed to call us 😂
