Great job! I run a daily 10K and I always listen to the Compound during it. The thing with the mega tech today is that they always have great top and bottom lines. Plus they all have a ridiculous growth potential. Can’t really say the same about past mega caps like Exxon and GE. They just keep getting bigger and have a hand on every cookie jar for the foreseeable future. I think that is a big difference when evaluating mega tech.

2024 is half gone are not improving for the average American consumer. I'm looking at high-yield dividend stocks. Selling 200k worth of equities is stupid without reinvesting it. I might turn to cash soon if I don't invest it. Any particulars? (Buying bonds or CDs is not for me)

I reported one of those fake ads with your image. I classified it as fraud to Meta. I heard back several days later from Meta stating that it was a legitimate ad and that they decided it did not violate the fraud standards. Not great.

I think comparing three months of stock gains to a year or three or five of declines is an inaccurate way to measure. I think you can compare one year up with one year down, three years up with three years down, etc..

One note on the market cap vs equal weight. The turning point is a bear market. If the bull continues, you probably want to stay with market weight. (i.e. the stocks that have been going up already will likely continue to perform well)

Timing the market with the equal weight S&P? Plot RSP over time (the longer the better) and then compare that to SPY, XLK, QQQ, SPYG etc... What am I missing?

You’re missing that over “the longer the better” timeframe US economic growth has morphed into tech and away from manufacturing. You’re also missing that over time the US became self-sufficient in oil and gas production, while manufacturing has been outsourced to other countries. The Vanguard large cap “value” ETF (VTV) top 10 holdings include JPM, AVGO, WMT, BRK, XOM, and all are close to ATHs, so even VTV is loaded with high multiple stocks.

the tech bubbles overlapping periods are bonkers.... and absolutely useless. if you search for run ups to bubbles and then find the drawdowns, then yes, you will find if it's too hot it will go down. but this doesn't mean where in a bubble

Re: lots of holdings in cash: I wonder how much of that is emergency funds that normally is kept in the bank earning almost nothing, but now have moved to money market funds because of the high rates.

When the yield is low, people is forced to take on more risk to generate income like hiding in dividend stocks. But now with short term rate close to 5%, some of the dividend stocks allocation will be converted to treasuries or money market funds. So, I'm not surprised that cash position is high. The surprise part from the Vanguard survey that younger people have more in cash which they should have in equities as they have longer investment horizon for compounding.
