Hey! So this video covered the jobs during Endwalker just before Dawntrails release. About 70% of the information in this guide is still accurate, but be aware that when you pick up these jobs some of them may be slightly different than what I say here. I plan to make a new version of this once i get familiar with the jobs in the game. Thank you!

...What the fuck? Why is this video so good? Whenever I click on a video from a channel with barely any subs, and the vid has barely any views, my highest expectation is that a video is going to be super rough around the edges but have some goodness within it. This video... is just really good. It's barely even rough around the edges. I'm actually astonished by how good this is, and I look forward to your future uploads.

Genuinely one of the best, most concise, correct, and consistent “which class” videos I’ve seen in… maybe ever? I was floored with your explanation of what makes Healer DPS and Tank fun. a WHM/SGE main who also heavily enjoys BLM & NIN and I’ve struggled to explain why mechanically I feel they are somewhat similar and now I know it’s because I prefer a straight forward & reactive style of play. Now I have a new intro video to send to any friends who may be interested in the game! Thank you.

A comment on the dragoon rotation: There's no longer a penalty for missing positionals (besides loss of damage like all other positionals). However, you will be punished heavily for breaking your combo. Getting the fifth correct positional is no longer required in the 6.xx patch series. The more detailed explanation is the final hit of your melee or AOE rotation (Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust or Coerthan Torment) will always give you the buff Draconian Fire and upgrade True Thrust/Doom Spike to Raiden Thrust/Draconian Fury respectively which is a more powerful version of the same skill. These skills are also the combo starters of your melee/AOE rotation. Executing Raiden Thrust/Draconian Fury also gives you one stack of Firstmind Focus. Two stacks of Firstmind focus give you Wyrmwind Thrust, another oGCD. It's your second most powerful oGCD behind Stardiver and is given to you by correctly doing your rotation. If you mess up your rotation, you're punished for breaking your combo and missing out on Draconian Fire. Not getting Draconian fire means damage loss and also delays Wyrmwind Thrust causing you to miss out on even more damage.
@pinkfurret_11 ай бұрын
in my experience with taking drg to savage and one ult, its most punishing aspect comes from the extremely tight ogcd timing and punishing deaths at the wrong time a lot. any drift on geirskogal and hi jump is permanent, which can really build up over time and missalign you. and if you die while the eye is half open? well, sucks to suck, basically. i do love it for its burst being basically entirely ogcd based though, so your 123(4567) stays the same no matter what part you're in, instead of memorizing whatever sam has got going on...

Fun fact to those who weren't around for HW Machinist: It used to be a 100% random proc "gun mage". It used to have a cast bar from an ability, the weapon skills 1>2>3 each had a 50% chance to proc, and they used to have two turrets that acted more like pets. It's very different from what it used to be, and I sometimes miss that old gameplay. But new Machinist is really fun and makes up for it.

Hey, I just watched your video on my phone but once I saw the comments I had to come back with a better keyboard to write out what is to be a long comment. First and foremost amazing work, I can tell you put a lot of effort and thought into this video, it is well made, informative without being overwhelming. Now, the reason I start by stating that clearly is to say this, ignore the absolute nit picking comments I've seen on this video. That you've taken the leap and put stuff out is an amazing feat, it takes a lot to jump off that ledge and absolutely nobody has any right to tear that down for stupid nitpick reasons imo. The reason I make a big deal of this is that in recent times, due the worse tendencies of humanity in the anonymity of the Internet has caused content creators to burn out and I hate to see this when there are creative people who want to share and be helpful like you. I know this was a long rant of basically nothing, my tldr is your work is good and you should be proud of it! Please, keep it up and hope to see more content from you in the future. PS 350+ days player (been a while since i checked x3) maining caster here. I like being supportive and adaptive as RDM/SMN during prog and then make big bad boss go boom boom as BLM later, perfecting my understanding of the fight:3

Great video. I will say you made monk seem like an easy choice for beginners, which it may be for some. As someone who's played most DPS jobs in savage/ultimate at some point during this expansion I would place monk near the top of the complexity scale, maybe second only to black mage.
@SiffusVera11 ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for your comment! This was actually something I was considering adding to the video but cut for time. Monk is probably the job with the biggest gap between its skill floor (minimum skill level required to play the job) and skill ceiling (skill level required to reach the peak). Monk has a very low skill floor for the reasons I listed, but trying to maximize dps on it is a complete nightmare. However, this video is focused on new players, and they won't reach the point that matters for a long, long time. Thank you again for your comment!

It's nice to see such a well made video from someone who clearly understands each job. Laid out like this I find it hard to take the homogenization argument seriously. Yes healers currently suffer from flat tool kits in most content. Yes everyone bursts at two minutes. Yes Tank design is a bit crowded. Yet every job still plays differently, with fairly decent depth if you want to push it as far as it will go.

I'd say GNB has more party support than DRK. Heart of Corundum + Aurora + Heart of Light is amazing for helping out your allies. DRK really shines imo for their more consistent dps than GNB. DRKs don't have to worry as much about crit rng and are able to regen mp during downtime. Missing a few big crits and the inability to build any resource during downtime can lead to pretty big dps loss for GNB Really great video! I would love to have seen this back when I started lol.

Thank you, thank you thank you thank you so much for not using end game content boss fight videos! I mean I love the overall explanation of the classes, coz it helped me identify that i vibe more with the paladin class thanks to my previous history than i do with dark knight but i didnt know any better coz i dont care about how complex or simple rotations are supposed to be. You really broke down the responsibility of each job per category over the top of their intended archetype functionality. But anyway, i am a newbie to this game. Barely finished the fight against Thordan a while ago and doing Alexander raids right now. Having played the game for a while now, i started watching guide videos finally about different classes and tips videos. And heavens forbid if i could find a video that did NOT spoil me with some future boss video run or anything of that sort. Like literally why are these people so obsessed with showing off their cool shiny weapons in a NEWBIE TUTORIAL VIDEO. I am sorry if i look overly agitated but i really cant express how thankful i am to your video. I am gonna be watching only your guide videos from now on instead of coming across another landmine. Thank you so much for such a concise and non spoiler video!

Ngl, I really wish Ninja's Raiton and Shuriken had their roles reversed so that the strong 20s 2-mudra attack would be you throwing a big fricking shuriken instead of you summoning a random lightning bolt through not-aether; would certainly make the job's ranged prowess feel more palpable, especially when the strongest mudra attack is literally a bunch of icy shurikens -- AKA absolutely nothing to do with lightning.

A real quick and easy recommendation for someone who really CANNOT pick, and is really new to the game: Healer - White Mage (Conjurer) Tank - Warrior (Marauder) DPS - Summoner (Arcanist, which can also be Scholar, but you don't need to play Scholar. It will level Scholar as a side effect though, and vice versa, so it's a 2 for 1 deal!)

They dont all start at the same level and the 3 HW job can only be unlocked after doing all of arr
@Spookybluelights11 ай бұрын
I think a nuance between SCH and SGE that is missing in this is that SGE has a much harder time with big recoveries than SCH would. SGE has the best shields and mitigation but it comes at the cost of pure output. If you're a new healer I do not recommend starting with SGE unless you've already been playing for a while and know fights really well, SGE shines the brightest when you're preventing damage, not recovering from it. Obviously this gap is closed the closer to the level cap you get but it's still something to consider.

I do take some issue with saying playing healers is unpredictable. because 9/10 it is exceedingly preidctable. and boils down to 'raid wide is beig cast'>'prepare to press an aoe ogcd' even the stupidity of randoms is rather predictable, as they can only stand in a puddle that the boss actually created. Meaning unless you do stuff (nearly) blind, simply knowing the fight means your actions as a healer are already predicted. It will change between fights due to different timelines, but there's no sudden surprises like you made it sound in the comparison to dps rotations.

Hey! Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure if I posted this elsewhere, but I am aware of this. As of right now, basically every major platform ONLY sells Endwalker, with Shadowbringers included. A new player would need to go out of their way to get just Shadowbringers. As such, and because this video is targeted at newer players, I figured it was better to simply list them all as coming from purchasing Endwalker to avoid unnecessary confusion. That distinction is only really relevant if your getting into the weeds, something this video is trying not to do. Hope that logic makes sense!
