Brisbane is a tropical city. So all tropical plants grow there. No surprises. Hibiscus originated in China not a Kerala plant. A cold version called "roses of Sharon" grows in cold countries. Many of the plants and trees we see in Kerala originated in Pacific, Brazil, Assam, Mesoamerica and many other parts of the world. The plants and trees originated in Kerala are Black pepper, bitter gourd (pavakka) and Chakka (jack fruit). Rest came from elsewhere brought mainly by Portuguese, Dutch, French and English from their colonies. Only thing Kerala shares with Brisbane is high humidity a miserable condition. Yes I have been there.
