I've really enjoyed watching your progression as a KZbinr/Vlogger. It's obvious how much thought you put into each video. I think it's one thing to be a great photographer, which your Smithsonian awards prove. I think it's altogether something else to incorporate that level of photography into a video as well. Balancing information about the area your photographing in, info on the wildlife and their habits. Along with helpful tips on equipment and technique. It's something that I believe you've grown into. Well done and thanks for sharing all of that with us Steve. Here's to your continued success.

I love this. We traveled through Jackson on our way home from Christmas in Idaho and took a detour to see the Moose. Unfortunately the time of day was good, the light was good, about 2pm, but had horrible heat waves even though it was -1 and the Bulls were at least 100 yards away. Well, you guessed it, I didn't get any keepers so I was bummed. Beautiful work on your part as usual Steve, I hope to take one of your clinics someday

Hello from Ontario, Canada! Awesome video! The footage of two “smaller” bull moose fighting then the larger one getting in it and them both backing down was incredible! If you’re testing full frame mirrorless cameras I highly encourage you to check out the Sony A9, the autofocus is incredible and 20 FPS is definitely nice. I haven’t tried the new Nikon’s but if you like the video AF in those I think you’ll love it on the Sony. Sony also has patented a 20 FPS APS-C camera as well, probably coming out the Early 2019 release cycle.
@stuartschaffner97445 жыл бұрын
Brad, I also have an A9 and absolutely love it for nature photography. I do wonder at its cost compared to some of the other nice cameras out there, but it's really a joy to use. I know that I was skeptical about a full-frame sensor that was "only" 24 megapixels in resolution. I do want to let people know that I believe the diffraction blur in any lens smaller than (f/number larger than) about f/5 is blurry enough to give you an effective megapixel reading of less than 24 megapixels for a full-frame sensor. If any of you can afford a 500mm f/2.8 then, fine, get a higher-resolution sensor or go to medium-format. However, if you subdivide a full-frame format sensor into more pixel bins, each bin will have more noise so the entire sensor will have a lower dynamic range. A higher dynamic range is strongly related to high ISO capability, so it seems to me that 24 megabytes is actually a sweet spot for full-frame sensors right now. Again, if you can afford lenses that cost over 10 grand, your sweet spot is a bit higher.

Hey Steve! Congrats again on the recent award. I love your videos and look forward to them each week. One quick question: I thought I saw, in this vid, where you were shooting some video through your front windshield. I find I can't get my rigs to focus through my front windshield and that frustrates me mightily. Any idea why it works for and not for me? I must be something about the windshield, but I don't know what. I'd like to try to avoid the issue on the next vehicle I buy 10+ years from now. :( Thanks.
