It’s not about the latest or smartest kit, it’s all about getting away from house and home and the hum-drum, and getting out into the woods syncing with nature. Just bliss! As much as I enjoy the novelty of the ships and bunkers, I'm all about the classic woodland bushcraft. Just watching these videos gives me a sense of calm and it all contributes: the shelter setup, the fire prep and obviously the Haribo! Kudos for keeping it real.

Ahhh the Collins Gem books 📚 that’s a throwback for me, had a fair collection. Obviously I had dinosaurs but large version of the trees, and the SAS survival guide I took everywhere that I had free time as a young lad. Bushcraft 101, Dave Canterbury's books are great, I love the illustrations. Also, people should look into Carter Beard and Ellsworth Jaeger ( Wildwood Wisdom is my favorite all-time bushcraft book. )

Kindling, it's not cheating if you use the resources around you. I keep a bundle with me of dry tinder. You have to have some cheese action on a wrap lunch. I am the breakfast man, everyday but I do eat early and finish early too - last meal around 8pm allowing the stomach to deal with food before bed. Love the gnome.

I wish I watched this before I collected dead bracken for fire starting. I would never have believed it was sharp, until I slid my hand up the stem to gather its leaves. It just opened up my palm easily. Not mega bad, but enough to keep dripping blood over everything I was trying to do. It also makes everything harder with a hand almost out of action.
