The Queens in Laxey is a cracking pub, good ale selection. Mines Tavern & The Bridge good too. Good location is Laxey, on bus n tram route to Douglas and Ramsay. Nice one Greg 👍🍺🙂

Great update, some in-depth interesting history and a few dodgy dad jokes thrown in 🤣. Yeah, 3.7 is well sessionable, you can drink it all day and all night, without going daft, and still only be nicely mellow. It does sound really a nice beer but you were right, the inside was quite lacking in any sort of character ☹. Stay safe and well, SIR, cheers, Schnuz.

A nice location and a nice looking Quayside. I can see what you mean about the pub interior, not my cup of tea either. The beer looks nice, I know what you mean about the some bitters needing to be in prime condition. Otter Bitter is the same down here. There is really only one pub where you can get a good consistent pint of it. Looking forward to part 2, keep the cracking videos coming. 👍

Condition is key on cask ales but some beers suffer more than others if not kept right. It had a great interior, 6 rooms, fisherman in the back bar and the Brewery ripped the heart out of it...cheers Graeme👍🍺

Like these Vlogs, relaxed and laid back. Love Douglas and the IOM, would possibly live there If I won the lottery. Only visited once, for the Manx football tournament back in the summer of 1982. Douglas seems stuck in a 1970s sort of time warp, like all towns and cities on the mainland used to look in the 1970s, now they are either seriously rundown or regenerated beyond recognition. Back in 1982 my first real taste of real beer was Okells, think it was around 36p a pint, a good 10p cheaper than the mainland at the time. My keg/lager drinking mates used to mock it, but I developed a taste for it. Always drink it when I see it on as a guest in a pub on the mainland. Would love to go back to the IOM and explore more the rest of the island, as back in 1982 as teenagers, all we did was drink for 4 days. A pub we used to use a lot, had its toilets across the road from the actual pub, any idea what pub this may have been Dave? Long live Okells and long live the beautiful Isle of Man.

Wow great memories Ronnie, the days when IOM pubs were open all day well before the UK. Got some decent breweries here, Bushys, odin n kaneens as well as Okells. @@SlurpyDave254 Looking at pubs in Douglas on CAMRA What Pub, reckon it could've been the Market, the interior was like the pub we drank in, sure it served Okells, and was in a narrow street that was in a busy thoroughfare, but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me regards the toilets across the road.

They own about 20 pubs now in Liverpool, chester, North Yorkshire area. But their beers are 80p more expensive than Bushys or Odin which still sell for £3 pint in some of our pubs. Cheers Al👍🍺
