Wow, you did it, well done 🙂 . That looks great . I've been trying to get as many mint stamps as i can for my GB davo album, its almost complete from 1935 to 1990 and is a great feeling to fill those gaps. Well done and thanks for another great video. Terry from Devon uk.

Yup, this one's the easier of the ones to fill, relatively speaking... it gets more challenging from here

Gosh, I wish I could have shipped you the huge estate collection I have been working on the past 18 months -- massive amounts of mint stamps in the era you are showing -- primarily pre-1960 commemoratives. I have been putting them all into Sho-guard mounts in albums...to send to a dealer. Would rather sell them to an individual but it's not my collection and I just need to send it on. All those stamps you are showing I have been working on in multiples (I'm now up to like 7 albums) until I am sick of looking at them. I can only imagine how dealers feel looking at the same stamps over and over ad nauseum. I will say that through this process I have learned to love stamps and have started my own niche specialty collection. But I can sure relate when you say it's a relief to have a big job completed!

I sort of collect US commemoratives, and found that you guys like to commemorate everything. Luckily for me, my club has circuit books which usually have the stamps I am interested in at about 10 cents each. But is slow process. Love your videos, love your good humour

nice collection ! Among my favorites of that bunch are the New Mexico and Arizona 50 years of statehood. If this was my album, I think I'd replace that mount for the strip of historical US flags - when you were putting the stamps in the mount, it seemed rather flimsy and sparce - and not too protective..... I hope those HIP stamp dealers used real stamps to send you your stamps. One of my pet peeves is "stamp" dealers who DON'T use real postage stamps to send purchases of stamps to their stamp collecting customers. From my experiences, HIP stamp dealers are usually pretty good about this - some ebay dealers, not so much. Thanks for another interesting video.....

Don’t forget the tagged var/ perf size on the liberty/ and paper var (I think C11 time period )to. Lol I like your enthusiasm it’s nice to remember why I started collecting stamps. Lance p.s. your lucky I got my $5 Hamilton 30 years ago MNH cat. $100. Baby zep 1986 still doesn’t cat what I paid lol it’s a hobby not an investment

Absolutely... I am quite sure I've spent more on stamps than they're worth, and that's totally fine by me because it's my hobby and pastime, I'm not in it for $$$. And... that's one of the drawbacks of the Davos, they don't have spaces for the variations. (That sure does make completing one easier, though) -:)
@jeffnewbery7376 Жыл бұрын
Well done good sir. I love my Davo albums as well and I continue to splurge on them but my, they look great! You inspired me to do something similar to what you are doing with USA but with my country, Canada. The Davo albums will be arriving shortly. Along with more for France and Iceland😉

Congratulations! 1945 to 1969. I have a lot of used USA stamps, but very, very few mint USA. They just don't seem to be generally available here in the UK... or perhaps I just don't know where to look. You have a lovely album there! :)
@silkontheweb Жыл бұрын
Ah, worth me keeping in mind... those years are pretty prevalent around here, but UK mint ones aren't! (I'm almost ready to showcase my Great Britain albums by the way... a few more pieces to put together. Such beautiful stamps...)

Congrats! How many stamps was that total? And how long did it take you?
@silkontheweb Жыл бұрын
Not too long... I started my quest to collect everyish USA stamps about a month and a half ago. Most of this album came from the 3 USA albums I opened a couple of weeks ago, and the cigar box. I also had a lot already, the trickiest bit was finding mint never hinged ones.

I'll do an update on the cost of my quest soon... and, to each their own, I suppose...
@seandolan8502 Жыл бұрын
Now do it again by hinging used issues on each of the opposite pages…. But only if all the stamps on that page has the same slogan cancel…..this will keep you searching and hunting through inexpensive stamps and boy will you create a stunning set! One page will be stacked on the nose, the next with mail early in the day, the next with use a zip code, next with bar cancels and so on. It’s harder than you think. But beware. If you don’t….you’ll start to neglect looking at a dead album. Completion means death.
@silkontheweb Жыл бұрын
Yesterday's Marathon up here was canceled because of 90 degree heat... so many people spent months of misery, for a payoff that didn't happen. Feel real bad for folks, and... if you don't enjoy the journey, the finish line isn't going to make up for it. I really like you idea... though, the mild OCD in me would make that tough because I'd never hinge (or mount) them straight enough... once I'm 'done' with my USA journey I'll probably move on to another country, though I love the idea of putting together a collection of hometown cancels too
