Awesome recommendations! Historical romance is my favorite genre, and Lisa Kleypas is probably my favorite author. Another author you may like if you enjoy historical fiction is Evie Dunmore. She writes Victorian romances that are centered upon the women's suffrage movement in the 1870s-1880s, and she really integrates the history and realities of the era into her stories. Mimi Matthew is another author who writes both Victorian and Regency romances that I feel would really appeal to lovers of historical fiction. :)

Lisa Kleypas is my fave. I love all of her books, but Dreaming of You is my all-time favorite of hers. Wallflowers is her best series. I also love some of Miranda Neville's books. The Dangerous Viscount is one of my favorites. Some of Mary Balogh's stuff is really good, but she is hit or miss; much lower on the steam quotient too.

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I've read one Mary Balogh book and enjoyed it but it was a while back. Thanks for watching :)

Great video! My fave Regency Romance author is Loretta Chase. My favourite series by her is the Dressmaker series, but if course that's set in the 1830s, not Regency, lol.

What is the difference in regency and historical?
@nazifaradi67413 жыл бұрын
The Wallflowers, Hathaways and Ravenels are actually situated in the Victorian era. But "The Gamblers of Craven's and the Bow Street Runners" are sort of Regency Romance

You should absolutely try out Georgette Heyer for a writer who captures the right period detail and tone. She also essentially invented the genre as it now exists. Definitely try 'Frederica' or 'The Corinthian' to get a taster. You could also try Cat Sebastian, Rose Lerner or K J Charles for more diverse regency romances. Thanks for the recs! :)
@thebookbelle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your recommendations! I have a few of Georgette Heyer's books on my shelves, but sadly haven't gotten round to reading them yet - hopefully soon!

@@thebookbelle no problem. Honestly, discovering Heyer changed my life. And there are so many to read! Now I'm dying to know which Heyers you've got, lol. Definitely start with a regency romance, in any case. I've heard her 'serious' histories aren't as good, but I haven't read them, so I can say for sure. Happy reading! And if you do get round to reading Heyer, please do a video. I'd love to know your thoughts! :)

Lovey channel, don’t know why it popped up in my KZbin recommendation, but since it did and I used to be a big Regency Romance reader I have listed some Signet Regency Romances that sat the bar for the modern RR you love today. Jane Austin started it all especially her book Pride and Prejudice. The baton was passed to Georgette Heyer, her books are a true delight. Georgette Heyer - The Corinthian, Regency Buck, The Grand Sophy, The Nonesuch Catherine Coulter - Lord Harry’s Folly (aka Lord Harry), Lord Deverill’s Heir ( aka The Heir), Rebel Bride, Autumn Countess Jane Ashford - The Three Graces Barbara Hazard - Lady Lochinvar Sheila Walsh - A Highly Respectable Marriage Edith Layton - The Dukes Wager Mary Balog - Lady With The Black Umbrella, The Counterfeit Betrothal Elizabeth Mansfield - Regency Sting, Winter Wonderland Judith Harkness - The Determined Bachelor Back in the day the main publisher of RR was Signet, they had many authors that have since went on to write thrillers and crime novels. You will find a lot of the old Signet RR in used bookstores, they are worth looking for if you love authentic RR with great research of the time period and customs.

@@thebookbelle My pleasure, there was a time when all I did was read books and travel to the places I was reading about. Now that I’ve gotten older I no longer have that thirst to read or travel, but it’s good to see the younger generation interested in the Regency Romance genre. I have a few more recommendations you might like. Cara Kelly write RR about regular people, she uses the Napoleonic wars for some of her settings. The Surgeon’s Lady, Summer Campaign, Beau Crusoe and Mrs McVinnie’s London Season Jo Beverly A Company Of Rogues series was very popular, last I checked there was 17 books in the series. An Arranged Marriage is the first in the series. Liz Carlyle has the Lorimer and Clan Cameron series. My 2 favorites are A woman Of Virtue and A Woman Scorned. If you like strong intelligent women and a little bit darker stories I suggest Kasey Michaels - Legacy Of The Rose and Cheryl Holt - The Way Of The Heart. For a nice romance I suggest Alisa McNair - Pearl Beyond Price and Sydney Ann Clary - Misfit Match If you want to try something different I suggest Joyce Verrette she set her romances in ancient Egypt, I loved these books. Dawn Of Desire Desert Fires Sunrise Of Splendor Winged Priestess 😊 Enjoy

Why is Heyer never ANYWHERE? She MADE the Regency Romance genre, and.... She's never noticed. Probably because she uses a vocabulary above that of a highschool student, knows what dialouge is, researches and doesn't write porn. Stephen Fry loves her for heavens sake! This wasn't meant to be a criticism, it just makes me sad to see perhaps, at the very least, one of the best technical writers (if only to judge on actual writing ability/subtlety) being kinda ignored.
