You don't need fancy equipment but it sure is fun. The rig is a whole hobby in itself

Definitely! Knowing me, I'll probably end up with some crazy rig eventually.

@@vitoscalleta9814 That's rad, thanks :) I've got a few games on the go currently, so it might be a bit before I can do a video for Dirt, BUT I do promise to make some videos for it.

I've always liked to play Gran Turismo or Dirt Rally, but I was always worried that I was missing out because I wasn't as good as I could be (even though I'd usually be up against the easiest possible AI). Then I just kept playing Dirt Rally with that idea of surviving. Not crashing in that game is more important than anything else with how damage can affect your car. I never realized that the same idea of survival could be applied to track racing too, which is pretty cool! I'll definitely keep that in mind when I get around to trying Gran Turismo and Assetto Corsa again sometime

I'm so glad the video showed you a new perspective! I hope you're able to enjoy road racing more on your next go around. Cheers.

Meanwhile, I tried Forza Horizon 4 and immediately thought the car physics are so weird. It felt weightless and like cardboard after only playing real sim racing games 😂
@GGTHRILLHO28 күн бұрын
Totally! And it takes a while to get a feel for the weightiness of everything because it's such a huge departure from standard arcade style controls. And then, going from a sim racer back to an arcade racer, everything feels uncanny and kind of bizarre. I really like both styles of games though.

@ I actually ended up refunding it. I expected it to have at least decent wheel support but it even lacked the auto center functionality. It honestly made it really hard to control for me because of that plus the ffb is pretty weird. 🫤

as a person who has been into sim racing for the past 11 years. dont dive into cheap wheels and hardware expecting youre gonna have 1:1 immersion to a real life car. i found that if you are just dipping your feet in and testing whether sim racing is for you or not. try some at least mid range equipment. because you are either one of two people. someone who can have fun without the highest end gear or someone who'll be sorely dissapointed that you didnt feel as immersed as you were expecting. if you are part of the later then I would suggest a buy once cry once approach. because if you are serious about sim racing then you will eventually be serious about your hardware.

Personally I don't have any simracing equipment right now but you can also play pretty with a keyboard and a mouse! Since there is the option of mouse steering in AC you can do the steering pretty smoothly. But the single problem is the brake/throttle ofc. I competed a few of times in Assetto Corsa and I am not doing that bad you know, just gotta adapt your situation by setting the car. especially the brake balance, I usually set it more to the front to outbrake others and because I obviously can't gain time by trail braking. I mean I used to have a wheel but it got kaput and now I have only pedals left, but you can't connect it directly to the pc I think, without an adapter. Anyways I'll get a good simracing setup in the future, but for now I'll just keep driving a real car 😆

Yeah, absolutely! I've raced against some super talented drivers who are rocking ancient controllers. It's totally possible to play at a high level on pretty much anything if you're committed enough.
@TheCostantinus24 күн бұрын
For the controller part, I would say: "every controller is a good controller, as long as it plays well with the game you want to play", and assetto corsa is *NOT* one of these games, on the other hand, assetto corsa competizione plays surprisingly well with a controller.
