People griping you're going slow are buttcracks. I appreciate the precision. I'd rather get it done right slowly than rush and have ruined meat. Thanks for being so thorough as you explain what you're doing.

One HUGE mistake.......never ever clean wild hogs without latex gloves. They carry brucellosis and many different bacterial germs. A lot of people get deathly sick from it. It’s very simple to prevent.....gloves. Please read up on it and protect yourself. You can handle 100 and be okay....or just the right one and get deathly ill. The most dangerous part for infection is the reproductive organs. Good video otherwise l

Black people we eat the intestines. However, I only eat them when my mother and older sister make the intestines. They have to be cleaned of all poop. It can take hours to clean and make the whole house smell. However, due to hours it takes to clean and my mother have a lot of illnesses I have not had intestines for years. After cleaning under cold water, picking all the poop off. In a large pot add the trinity (onions, celery and carrots), your choice of spices, bell peppers, bring to boil and reduce to simmer for 4 hours

what's a good folding knife for field dressing?
@13thvarebel16
@13thvarebel16 Жыл бұрын
Looks like an old Buck he's using. Mine was a Shrade Old Timer with a curved "smooth" edge and a fine serrated edge. Dressed my first deer with it and had no issues (at least none caused by the knife 😜). The smooth curved tip is good for skin and sinews, the serrated part cuts right through breastbone.

Any solid lockback knife should be fine, as long as it's good and sharp. Know how to resharpen if it goes dull while field dressing. A dull knife is a dangerous knife.

You had a comment on gloves so nuff said. I appreciate the video as I’m preparing to go on first hog hunt. Even on deer I use two knives to prevent tainting the meat with the testicle effluent and the gland wax that is present on breeding animals. Maybe pigs don’t have them like deer do (I imagine they do however). You did a quick catch on the broken colon, but by then it was a moot point. You used your knife blade to rake aside your “do do muffin” so everything after that dragged any present bacteria into the rest of the meat. Since you said you still had to drag it, by the time you washed it, “too late.” The video was informative though, thanks.

This might sound like a dumb question but what if it is a female? Same with urinary system?
@OmnivoresHomesteadAndQuivers
@OmnivoresHomesteadAndQuivers 2 жыл бұрын
Instead of bringing the penis and urinary track all the way to the back to pull through you just have to cut around the anis and vagina because it’s already all the way back there. Much easier and faster with a female.

Let me preface this with I haven't killed or harvested a pig, however, even if I had, I believe in the "1000 ways to skin a cat". If your way was more efficient than my imaginary method, I think it'd be worth a watch. It's pretty close to the way I do a deer. Regardless, awesome content thanks for uploading! Keep up the good work.
