This video was genuinely so helpful. I’ve been struggling with the placement of the molds, just couldn’t get my head around how I was supposed to fill the molds the right side up with the wick sat on the bottom making it uneven, I have been pouring them on a sort of cross grid tray that’s about an inch high with my little wicks just hanging out on the underside 😂 why I have never paid attention to the blue tack trick I will never know. Just saved this fella so so much time massive thankyou 😂

Thank you so much for that! I asked my partner what I should do as I had no clue and he suggested maybe using something hot like the thermometer and poke it thru the candle once it had set. And he’s pretty ingenious! Clearly that would’ve been the last thing we would’ve wanted to do! Thanks so much for your video tutorial!!!!

It never gives me a hard time coming out....Just a tip :) then you dont need the tack...Then i use a wick holder that looks like a hair clip😂 i center it so it cant move and i pour.

Until then ... I have this unmoulding video that you can watch - but you do not need to cut your skull candle moulds, like I mention in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJy8ooibgs5-l5Y Here is another unmoulding video kzbin.info/www/bejne/mofMpHqaZtGXgbM If there is anything else that I can help you with please let me know

If you make a hole for the wick can you still use the mold for plaster? Is there a way to close the hole temperary?
@Candle_Making_With_Jes2 ай бұрын
Yes you should be able to - silicone is kind of sticky so it isn't like there is a big gaping hole there. Just put some blue sticky tack on the hole to just make sure. Let me know if you try it how it goes for you. I'd love to know if it worked :D

I've seen multiple people do it in multiple different ways but if the hole is small enough and you use like wicking needle it shouldn't poor out of the bottom should it? I mean that's why it's silicone it should kind of close itself up. I mean some bigger molds are completely "open" (have a slit/split in the side to get the canle out) and they don't leak because the silicone kind of closes itself.

I am going to be using a silicone mold for the first time can Parrafin wax also be used In it ( I usually use mason jars for housed candles or metal molds to make stand alone candles ) I went looking for a how to use a silicone mold and came upon this video

Hi there, yes absolutely you can use paraffin wax! Everything else I explained in the video is the same. Just watch your pouring temps cause paraffin shrinks so try pouring slightly cooler. Good luck! Let me know if you need any more help if you come across a problem :) I am always happy to help

The blue tack doesn't stick onto my molds. Any advice?
@Candle_Making_With_JesАй бұрын
The blue tack does not stick to my moulds either. It sticks to the desk or table you are working on. The mould just kind of holds it there but it does not stick to the mould itself. If it is not working with your mould and wax is leaking out the bottom you can try using a moulding putty, like the kind kids play with as it is kind of a thicker material and might work better for you. Let me know how you make out. :) Jes

@@Candle_Making_With_Jes That blue stuff is not staying...maybe I used the wrong product...I used lock tite fun tack.....when that didn't work I used play dough which did work..I think...Im not even sure of that because the hole I put in the mold is apparently too small...so when I pulled the wick through I had to pull hard and it damaged the candle ...(this is my first time making a candle...so...lol--)

Blue tack doesn't really hold cuz wax is really hot
@Candle_Making_With_Jes Жыл бұрын
How hot do you pour you wax? Blue tack has worked for me for the last 5 years of candle making 🙂
@yeemint4568 Жыл бұрын
@@Candle_Making_With_Jes VERY hot. The wax I'm using changes colour quickly so if I'm not quick it gets a weird layer of colour on the bottom. So Blue tack didn't work for me😔 But I make glass candles not silicone so probably becz the glass stays hot for a while the blue tack melts or smt I've never used a mould like this but I'm planning to buy some. So maybe blue tack will work on those! Edit: I used blue tack to balance the wick when I do multicoloured layers. Yk those that you lean the glass on one side
@Candle_Making_With_Jes Жыл бұрын
@@yeemint4568 yes it would be because of the glass staying hot. The silicone moulds don't really get hot so the bluetack works for them. What do you use for the glass moulds?
