I was just thinking that the bison must love not having the flies pestering them. They really are majestic animals.

Good evening Dusty. I told DeeJay to start singing "she'll be coming around the mountain" and that rooster might take the hint. 🤣🤣🤣 55 here in N.C. and I have to say I appreciate the milder winter right now, subject to change at anytime! Hugs from N.C ..❤️

Hey Dusty! You can put heaters in the Water tubs! Go watch, Hidden Heights Homestead and see how Kevin made his water tubs! It only took a few minutes to make them n they work great! Saved alot of work for his livestock n him! Bison are so pretty! Love Dunbar! He's the man! Big Joe is bigger but Dunbar is the main man! Lol. 🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸

3:15 fun fact: moving water doesn't freeze. Consider adding bubblers to your water tanks. Do some research on the air flow for your size tanks. Maybe stock tank manufacturers might know. If you can't find it, contact koi pond installers. I know they have the information. Brady Brandwood is an award winning koi breeder with a KZbin channel. He can probably steer you in the right direction if you can't find anything on line or if experimenting on your own doesn't work. 💖🌞🌵😷

0:24 if possible throw the ice chips over the fence... Otherwise, you're gonna have a big sloppy mess once it melts and the bison stomp through it. 💖🌞🌵😷

Rooster wants to get his two cents in. It is like they know when to crow and it is never good timing. I love seeing the bison during winter time. I know it has to be better for them with no pestering flues around.

When I was a young teenager, one of our cattle had a calf in frozen conditions just like yours. I found the calf, dead & frozen on the side of a hill. Mama nowhere around. That tore me up.

First, I won’t argue that Bison are not superior to cattle. They are. However, you can get cattle that are grass genetic and low maintenance. I’ve thought about getting bison for myself but trying to rationally graze them seems to be more difficult than cows. Every channel I’ve seen has to worm their bison whereas there are cow producers who have cows they don’t worm. Also, you can get your cows to calve in April and May. It’s not a given they’ll valve in February.

Interesting video, I live not too far from Europe's largest bison farm, they have 400 bison. According to Danish animal welfare law, the animals must be given the opportunity to shelter from the weather - it was about to close the farm

Not buying this 100 % have raised Cattel -40° without barns in the mountains and calf in times is a herd management issues timing when to breed so calf later this also an issue of flooding the market at same if all rancher calfed in spring and sell in the fall crappie prices because every selling at same time of year Benifits of bison is quality of meat cattel in the long run easier to work may not be as majestic as bison just same both have a place in ranching

Yellowstone stopped feeding their bison in the winter because they were too dependent on humans. They are doing just fine. I know you are a rancher and are depending on growing a healthy herd. Maybe you don't have enough land to support them over the winter months.
