You could also collect all the sawdust from the cuts and run it through a pellet presser and sell easy start, no hassle, fire starting pellets along with the split wood. Good way to turn excess waste into profit.

That's a really cool machine! The saw mechanism is identical to what I installed at sawmills and lumberyards about 20 years ago, just a whole lot smaller. Lol. The systems I set up could cut entire bundles of 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, etc.Whatever you wanted to cut really. The bundles of 2x4's,etc, that you would buy at the local hardware store, is what many of these machines were set up for. The accuracy tolerance was +/- 1mm square. The brand name was Holtec, which was a guy who was partnered with Stihl way back in their beginnings. Stihl wanted to stick with chain saws and his partner wanted to go more towards production machinery. This was the beginning of Holtec. A cord of wood is about 3.62 m2 (yes yes, metric), in Europe we pay now about EUR 250 for seasoned dried oak (45 cm, 17.7 inches) stacked on a pallet, 1 m2. So one cord is about USD 885... 3 cords would be USD 2655 on the market here... Not bad for for 25 minutes of work :-) (minus the stacking)

Tabernac. I first came across this channel over 10 years ago researching firewood processing. Cody was cutting and splitting by hand with a Glock 26 on his hip. I could relate to that. He's evolved much more than I have over the years. WOW!

Going by the trailer direction you have the same working rules as my work. You always have to try the bosses way first and let it fail, then you can get on and do it the correct way you suggested at the start with out saying I told you so.

@@jakebredthauer5100 its a length gauge, its what tells the operator when to stop advancing the log to get uniform size of cutoff rounds to then press through the splitter. Then you get the same length of split wood, length is important so that you can fit the pieces in your wood stove or fireplace. 16-20” is commonplace.

We used the exact same trailer but with the bunk boards. We heaped it but not to the point it was unsafe travelling down the road and after stacking we were always right at 2 cord.

I have the same trailer as well. With an additional 2 feet of boards up the sides and back. I load with a conveyer too. I load it right up hepping. When piled it is 2 bush cords. 128cu.ft x 2. He's way off. If he did 4 an hour consistently I'd be impressed.

In my area in Germany the price for 1m³ of seasoned fir or spruce firewood is about 75€, so roughly 270€ per cord Hardwood of course is more expensive, up to 500€ per cord

The only logs we have in SE Texas that are that large and that straight are loblolly pine which are not good for firewood. Not sure how well that machine would handle red/white/live oak with twists bends and knots.

In my area of new brunswick canada, a cord is about 200$ for softwood and 250$ for mixed soft/hard. It could be 300$+ if its delivered and stacked and really well seasoned. I just assume a price of 250$ when calculating how much time it takes me to cut a cord of wood and whether its worth it to do it myself or just buy it. For me its worth it to cut myself.

I don't know about you guys in USA, but in Latvia the firewood prices tripled in recent years. But out here there is atleast hope - you can pick branches and other firewood from clear-cutting for free. Ofcourse with permission from forest department.

Codie this is a example of looks being decieving, that trailer is only one cord of wood or maybe one and a third at best. I have a 7x14 dump trailer and we sell wood by the cord. I know I have a good honest cord when we start to not be able to just throw the pieces onto the load by hand without them bouncing out.

That's a 14ft x 7ft x 2 ft trailer. Unstacked you figure 180 or so cubic ft per cord. That trailer has 1.5 cords in it at most. I have a 20ft gooseneck dump with 4 ft sides on it to get 3 loose cords in. That processor will do 2.5- 3 cords an hour tops

I understand you're joking about shipping the firewood. But that brings up the possibility of that happening. That would be disastrous due to the amount of invasive pests being shipped across the world. Think emerald ash borer type destruction but all over the globe
