One of the best ways for an editor to secure the best possible synchronisation from a camera and screen record/mic audio is to synchronise the audio to the best form. In fact, I use Adobe Podcast to enhance my audios. Sometimes, I begin to edit the audio from the first few minutes if there aren't much and synchronise; on the obverse case which is highly professional, I resort to edit after synchronising the audio if there are a lot of stuff going on. Meanwhile, with regards to "natural pauses", I don't joke with it because it gives pristine flow of audio into another audio in lieu of making it seem like a robot or rushed job. Natural flow of audio gives the audience a sense of human speech interacting with them in a normal human behaviour. As usual, you gave apt precision on how to go about audio flow that many video/audio editors (podcasters included) do ignore. Thanks Femi of my country 🇳🇬.
