From the book " To Save a Thousand of Souls" by Fr Brett Brannen The purpose of celibacy is to learn to love the way the saints love in heaven. Celibacy is about intimacy with Jesus, the only one who can fill the void that is within us all. This is why prayer is so essential in the life of a priest. Intimacy with Jesus leads to love and intimacy with his people. Therefore priests who pray faithfully generally are not lonely. But when a priest is not praying and when he isolates himself from people, this can lead to loneliness and the desire to self-medicate to take the edge off. Yes, there will always be some nights in the life of a priest when he lies in bed and aches for a companion. God made us this way. He made us for union. But the priest raises his mind and heart to Jesus in these times and says, “Yes Lord, I ache tonight for a female companion. But my life is an eschatological sign to the world that you alone can fill the human heart. And I am glad to ache for you, to bring that truth to the world. I am glad you called me to be a priest! Now I am going to sleep.”

Fr Brett Brannen (To Save a Thousand of Souls) All fears can be overcome by increasing one’s faith, hope, and love. In fact, it is not overly simplistic to state that every problem known to man can be fixed by these three theological virtues A virtuous life should spring naturally from a life of prayer and intimacy with Jesus. A man should be conscious of his sins and bothered by them. He should be trying very hard to live out the supernatural virtues infused at his Baptism: faith, hope, and charity; and to develop the intellectual virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude.

from the book " My Path to Heaven " God made me for Himself, and He made all other things to get me to Him. God has told the angels to get him ready to do what God made him for. This is because whatever God makes, He makes it for something - just as we do. If we make a dress, it is to wear, and that settles the shape; if we make a knife, it is to cut. If a knife is well made, it is sure to cut, because it has no choice about it; but the boy in the picture is not sure to do what he was made for, because he has a choice; he is free. God made me to love Him This boy was made to love God; and in order to love, you must be free: that means you must be able to say: “I will not love.” The stars can’t love God, who made them so beautiful, because they are not free. In order to love God, you must know Him and honor Him and do His will. This boy was made to do all that and, by doing that, to save his soul and go to Heaven and be happy with God forever. God made all other things to help me love Him And now, what about all the other things God has made? All the powers this boy has in his body and in his soul? And all the things he comes across during his life: the sun and moon and stars and animals and trees and flowers? And all the things the boy will feel: joys and sorrows, troubles and good fortune, friendship and loneliness, being ill and being well, and temptations and graces? And all the things the boy will do: eating and sleeping and walking and talking and working and studying and playing? Did God make all these things too? Yes, of course. And what for? Here is the wonderful answer: all to help that boy to do what he was made for, to love God and save his soul.

Fr. Brian Bashista, vocation director of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, underscores that vocation is less about personal choice and more about discovery. A vocation is not so much a choice as it is an invitation and response. A person offers himself or herself to the other. Vocations are always ‘other-directed.’ They are about love. Love is not so much chosen; it is discovered and then responded to. Even in marriage, a man does not really choose his wife or vice versa. He extends an invitation to her to enter into this vocation and she responds. Every vocation takes two yeses. As you seek to say yes to God and to discover the vocation in which God wants you to flourish, I recommend this prayer to you. Say it every day, more than once. Dear God, I want to want what you want. Even if I don’t want it right now; Even if I am afraid right now, I want to want it. Help me to want to be what you want me to be. Amen. Prayer for Inner Healing Lord Jesus, You came to heal our wounded and troubled hearts. We beseech Thee; to heal the torments that causes anxiety in our hearts; we beg Thee, in a particular way, to heal all who are the cause of sin. We beseech Thee, to come into our lives and heal us of the psychological harms that struck us in our early years and from the injuries that they caused throughout our lives. Lord Jesus, You know our burdens. We lay them all on your Good Shepherd’s Heart. We beseech Thee - by the merits of the great, open wound in Your heart - to heal the small wounds that are in ours. Heal the pain of our memories, so that nothing that has happened to us will cause us to remain in pain and anguish, filled with anxiety. Heal, O Lord, all those wounds that have been the cause of all the evil that is rooted in our lives. We want to forgive all those who have offended us. Look to those inner sores that make us unable to forgive. You who came to forgive the afflicted of heart, please, heal our hearts. Heal, O Lord Jesus, those intimate wounds that causes us physical illness. We offer our hearts to Thee. Accept them, O Lord, purify them and give us the sentiments of your Divine Heart. Help us to be meek and humble. Heal us, O Lord, from the pain caused by the death of our loved ones, which is oppressing us. Grant us to regain peace and joy in the knowledge that You are the Resurrection and the Life. Make us authentic witnesses to Your Resurrection, Your victory over sin and death, Your living presence among us. Amen🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Kyrie Eleison! Christe Eleison! Kyrie Eleison! Christe Eleison! Fr Brett Brannen (To Save a Thousand of Souls) Our Primary Vocation is Holiness Happiness is doing the will of God. Interestingly, that could also be the definition of holiness. The primary and universal vocation of every person in the world is to be holy-to become like Jesus Christ. Christ-likeness is the only success recognized by God. Or, as St. Bonaventure said: “If you learn everything except Christ, you learn nothing. If you learn nothing except Christ, you learn everything.”Interestingly, the people who take holiness seriously are also the people who experience the most happiness here in this life. Why? Because our holiness is preparing us for the supreme happiness of heaven, the true destiny for which we were made, not some glimmer of happiness which we might experience here. Holiness directly leads to fulfillment and human flourishing, and the entire concept of vocation encompasses both. The first vocation of every baptized person is to become a saint. While that may seem daunting, the good news is that this vocation does not require any discernment. The Church and Sacred Scripture both tell us clearly and definitively that holiness is everyone’s primary vocation. The Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real though imperfect. In her members, perfect holiness is something yet to be acquired. Strengthened by so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state-though each in his own way-are called by the Lord to that perfection of sanctity by which the Father himself is perfect.

Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) Sexual integration is essential for all people, whether they are called to marriage, priesthood or religious life. “The successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his bodily and spiritual being” (CCC #2337). Chastity is the virtue that moderates the desire for sexual pleasure according to the principles of faith and right reason. Priests, sisters, married persons, and single persons are all called by God to chastity, to use their sexuality according to God’s plan in their specific state in life. Married persons live chastely by using the gift of sexuality exclusively with one another, according to the teachings of Christ. Priests live chastely by not having sexual activity with anyone, but loving people the way Jesus loves.

247 - Jesus Speaks to Valeria of Matrimony, and Divorce When Jesus is in Nebo, Valeria with her little daughter Faustina come to see Jesus. Faustina has brought very valuable flowers. Saying ‘Faustina’s roses to her Savior,’ the little girl places all her flowers in Jesus’ lap. He caresses the child who is no longer afraid, and starts to speak. Valeria says: “Master, reports about You are on the office table of Pontius Pilate. Many reports deal with You, making the symbol of national insurrection and at the same time the cause of civil hatred. But, Pilate consults a great deal with Claudia, who tells her husband that You are the one and only person, he must not fear. Pilate listens to her every day. Claudia is powerful. But if in the future, another power should control Pilate... ”“You have a pitiful and enlightened heart, woman. May God enlighten you fully, and watch over this child of yours, now and for ever.” “Thank you, Lord. I am in need of God.” Tears drop from Valeria’s eyes. “Do not weep. I also know everything, even without the reports of centurions. Do not weep. Learn instead to love your husband in an orderly way.” “I cannot love him anymore. He no longer deserves it. I despise him. I let him go away. I wanted to make my house respectable... and he asked to be transferred to Antioch at the Consul’s service and ordered me, not to follow him and he took his favorite slave girls with him. Everything is finished between us! I will not follow him.” “No, you are still his wife. The duty of a good wife is to make her husband good. You are thinking: he has set a bad example. That is true. But that does not exempt you from setting virtuous examples. He went away. True. You must take his place with your daughter and the servants.” “He says that he wants to divorce me. And he will certainly do that.” “But Valeria, you will be loved by God, by your daughter and by your servants. And even if you were no longer a wife, but a divorced woman, remember (Jesus stands up) that a legal separation does not destroy the duty of a woman to be faithful to her marriage oath. Divorce is legal prostitution as it puts man and woman in a position to commit lustful sins. To speak of marriage in the case of a new union of a divorced person (man or woman), is to profane the meaning and essence of marriage. Only the death of one of the consorts can justify a second marriage. However, I think that it would be better to yield to the just verdict of Him, who controls the destinies of men and to remain chaste when death has put an end to the matrimonial state, devoting oneself to the children and loving the dead consort in the children. A holy, true love, deprived of all materialism. Poor children! No. There will be no divorce in my religion. And he, who divorces by civil law to contract a new marriage will be an adulterer and a sinner. Human law shall not change my decree. Matrimony in my religion will no longer be a civil contract, a moral promise made and ratified in the presence of witnesses. But it shall be an indissoluble bond, stipulated, confirmed and sanctified by the sanctifying power I will give it, as a sacrament. To make you understand, a sacred rite. A power that will help to practice all matrimonial duties in a holy way, but that will also be the sentence of the indissolubility of the bond. Marriage, therefore, will become a spiritual contract sanctioned by God through His ministers. Now, you know that nothing is superior to God. Therefore what He has united, no authority, law or human whim will be able to separate. Because death is not the end, but a temporary separation of the husband from his wife and the obligation to love lasts also after death. That is why I would like widows to be chaste. Therefore, consorts have the reciprocal duty to improve the other consort.” “My husband will not draw back.” “And you will go forward. Holding your innocent child by hand, you will walk on the way of justice, without hatred, without revenge, but also without vain expectation and regret for what has been lost.” The woman becomes pensive, and pale, but strong in her grief after the few tears shed at the beginning of the conversation. She, then bends over the little girl, picks her up, embraces her and smothers her with kisses. “Tell me, oh! Tell me, Master, You teach people to live heroically. What must I do to rear this child so that we may be both in Your kingdom? Which words, what acts shall I teach her?” “No special acts or words are required. Be perfect, so that she may reflect your perfection.” “Yes, I do. It is justice. Master, I leave You. Bless a poor woman.” “Go and do not worry. God does not leave without help those who seek Him.” from "The Poem of the Man-God" by Maria Valtorta, . Sophia
