@@gautaminaik2233 I LOVE the throne of glass series. each book is a little slow in its own way, but it's ALWAYS worth it once you get past the slow plot forming bit of each book. I would recommend though, if you're not sure, borrowing them from a friend or the library, OR buying the series used one book at a time. I haven't brought as much books this year as I did last year. I did buy quite a bit of books from January to May. I only got two books this month (with another one coming from Book Depository) and the two books I got this month were The Gentlemen's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee and Heartstopper Volume 1 by Alice Oseman. I finished Heartstopper Volume 1 in an hour and I LOVED IT!!!! I'm only 87 pages into The Gentlemen's Guide and I'm liking so far. And the book I'm writing from Book Depository is Roomies by Christina Lauren. I can't wait 💙💙💙

I appreciate you speaking up and going out of your way to educate yourself. It’s a really draining time to be black, honestly. It feels like everyone is pretending to realise we exist as if we haven’t been here all along, and it’s hard to tell who’s genuine in their support and who’s just scrambling to make a statement before they receive backlash. It’s also frustrating to see people only NOW waking up from being so ignorant and oblivious to everything that’s been going on for YEARS. I’m tired of being told to feel grateful that at least it’s finally happening. The bar is SO low. White people shouldn’t be applauded for showing basic humanity. Although I guess it’s better late than never, I also hate that something had to happen for people to wake up to something that’s always been an issue and always been spoken about. The movement is only now getting the respect it deserves because of the white allies speaking up. The world is deaf to the sound of black voices, it seems.

Thriftbooks is American and can get pretty pricy for Canadians. Currency is in USD only and they don't offer free shipping to Canada so you can end up spending $10-15 CAD on one used book (and not always in great condition either). Unless it's hard to find, might as well buy it new book and support the author and local bookstore.

I haven’t read it yet so I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Fountain of Silence is set during the Spanish Civil War. Also A Long Petal to the Sea by Isabel Allende I believe takes place during the same time frame. Hope this helps!

A historical fiction book with a POC is A Big Dose Of Lucky by Marthe Jocelyn. If you count books that take place in the 60’s as historical fiction this one would work. It is by a Canadian author, takes place is Canada and I quite enjoyed it.

PLEASE read Crescent City soon!!! I promise only the first lil chunk is kinda a steep slope in terms of info dumping, but the book is so entertaining/fast paced after that! I read it like 3 months ago and I still can't stop thinking about it lol

Major respect for cutting ties with book outlet. I hadn’t heard about what they said, so thanks for making me aware. I have an order on the way from them but that’ll be my last.
