My uncle ran a smaller dairy farm back in the 1950's and into the mid 1970's. I always enjoyed visiting. Believe it or not, the thing I remember the most is riding the tractor while he was towing a loaded manure spreader. Keep posting the videos. They take me back to my "good ol' days!". Big city life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Ask me how I know.

Great explanation. I did not know about the suckling action of the calf as being therapeutic for the calf. Sounds like you have some evidence you are correct. The way you explained it makes sense: Having to work at it a bit trains the calf to eat, etc. Way to go Taylor! Keep at it!

Good morning Taylor. Looks like the future of your herd is well planned with Neil and your new Ayrshire calf bull. Your talents as a herd manager are a great plus. Even though farmers don’t have a degree from Harvard they have the smarts and common sense to help them through all of the aspects of farming. Another great Taylor (tailor) made video. 🐄🚜🌽😉

hi , well im very impressed with your input into the dairy side of farming , i did the same thing here in new zealand , milked the cows , turned the hay (lucerne or medow hay ) raked it at 6-30 at night , then baled it at approx 9-00 or 10-00 at night plus put in the shed . made things alot easier getting my car licence etc , due to driving so many impliments etc , again well done to you , plus you present your videos with alot of pride , take care , bluey .

Observation is a great way to learn, fyi, the sucking adds more saliva which aids digestion and the head placement helps direct the milk to the right part of the stomach. Calves feed on a teat have less digestive issues and you get more gain from the milk feed, but you have worked this out for yourself.

@joeldavis88513 ай бұрын
Friendly advice. Don't rub your bull calf on the head. It encourages him to butt at you. And I noticed Neil has horns. I'd be dehorning him pretty soon. You have some good stock. A purebred Ayrshire should be a big boost not only in genetics but cream and butterfat. 🙂

Thank you so much! That would be something to look into if they did make a product like that. No offense taken at all, it’s actually the bent guard that covers the exhaust pipe. The pipe starts bumping against it and makes quite a racket! I’ll definitely see if I can try to straighten it out some more because it is awfully annoying sometimes ☺️
