I used to decorate my house and yard for Christmas. I would make elaborate decorations for my tree and wrap empty boxes to go under it. 2 years ago I hurt too much to decorate. Last year I had just had surgery. This year I'm just not in the mood. All my gifts have been mailed out since the end of October. I spend Christmas alone so any decorations are just for people who drive by and because I think they are pretty. It's not that I feel depressed about Christmas. I have Seasonal Affect Disorder so I'm depressed from the time the leaves start turning and the weather starts cooling until it turns green and the weather is warm again. I have turned my back porch into a greenhouse this year and it is helping me feel better.

I too have SAD. My doc found medicine that controls it but even with insurance it's 550.00 dollars. Can't afford it. Mine is so bad , each day I battle thoughtsbof suicide.

I can sympathize with the depression. I’ve had it off and on all my life. It’s been so much worse the last year or so. I’ve lost interest in so many things. I think when we are a lil older, the Holidays always bring the loneliness out of us. The funny thing is that those feelings always pop up when we are not expecting it, and it is a little upsetting!!! Christmas brings back so many memories of the past when loved ones were still with us and things were so different and of course the older we get the more loved ones we lose. I’ve suffered from depression for years and this time of year is always the worst for me, especially since my precious dog passed 2 years ago on November 30th.

Loneliness and depression are so common and you are not alone. The Holidays cause us to reflect on how things used to be. When I reflect on Christmas 40 years ago when we got together with 40+ people and now there are only 12 of us it makes me sad. Just know that you bring so much joy to people and we can be here for each other. Oh my that Gingerbread man is the BOMB!!! Lol!!

I lost my son 2 years ago this month. I no longer decorate nor celebrate Xmas but I do still enjoy seeing others joy for the season. I can definitely appreciate and understand the feeling of depression and the struggle to stay healthy when it seems overwhelming.

I didn't know your mom had a bag. It's nice that u share things. I have stage 3 rectal cancer did 1 chemo and they had to stop cause my white count went to 2.3 they gave me 2 shots to raise my white cells but I had reactions to it so that's stopped too. I go back to Dr Monday. Let your mom know I'm thinking and praying for her. And tell her she has a friend who is also 4'11" from RI lol love you Bern watching u for awhile since I Bern out of work since Oct 25 u brighten my day keep up the great work!!!!❤

I get depressed during the holidays. I think a lot of people do. Please don't stop taking your thyroid medication. The medication doesn't cause weight gain It's the inactive thyroid that does. The medication helps regulate the thyroid and help your metabolism. Just a little PSA. ❤

I was plagued with SAD when I lived in Missouri. Gray all winter. Ugg! One of the many reasons I moved to the Sunshine state! Get one of those special lamps that simulate sunshine, it can help. I used to go to the tanning salon but that has been proven to be really harmful.

I can relate to your red blotches. I have the same thing. If I get stressed or touch something, or breathe something even slightly allergenic I get blotches or hives on my cheeks or neck. I often get red flushing for no known reason. Make up doesn't cover it up, but it usually goes away on its own after a while. I also recently broke two back teeth and they were so sharp I had a hard time talking. I haven't had a chance to get them fixed yet. They smoothed out, but sometimes get sharp again and cut my tongue. It's always something with me.

I had a mouse in my house and I used a humane trap to catch it and then I released it in a field. My husband said you know if we end up with a family of them that’s prob not gonna work again lol. My daughter has lots of them because she lives on a piece of land surrounded by woods and she has to use the traps that squash them and it makes me so sad 😢 but I know she doesn’t have a choice. My cats watched one run down the hall and just sat there like oh hey lol. By the way have you seen The Substance with Demi Moore ? I know you like horror; that movie is a trip 😮
