The ONLY way to get the UK housing market moving and therefore a boost to the economy is by ABOLISHING STAMP DUTY and lower interest rates on mortgages. The top economist Rachel and her ideological chums don't understand that paying an average of £100,000 in tax to downsize or move actually puts people off! If the cost to move was just legal fees then people would spend hundreds of thousands £ on home improvements, furnishing, extensions etc. etc. providing 1. Massive VAT revenue 2.
