I’ve looked at thred up before but had trouble finding things I thought I would like... I would love to see a video of the process of you “thrifting” on thred up - to see what you search, what filters you use if any, how you decide if you’ll like a piece, that kind of thing!

What’re you looking for in terms of style? I found that thredup was a little too “mature”/preppy for the items i was looking for, I found a lot more things in my wheelhouse on Poshmark and also found it a little easier to search? Idk maybe that’s just me!

Alyssa Fisher I consider my style mainly mature and preppy and I can never find anything I like on thredup lol. I feel like you have to know how to find what you like on the site and I definitely haven’t figured that out yet!

I'm an avid depop user and my style tends to fall under those lines so a lot of what's on thredup is really unappealing to me. Recently I've had a bit of luck though especially with pants. If you have specific styles (silhouettes?) you like I recommend making a saved search and checking it periodically (i.e. I have a saved search for jeans, high rise, my sizes, cotton, in someone's cart). The shopping someone's cart option is super useful because it seems like that's where the goodies usually are. I wouldn't narrow your search too much though because thredup employees seem to frequently mislabel things. That's what helped me a lot recently though, hope you find it useful!

Omg finally someone said it!! I know ThredUp is basically an online consignment shop but we all know that most of our clothes are not manufactured at or worth near the price that we pay for them originally.

I remember searching ThredUp for a Gap dress I missed out on a few seasons ago and found it for $34.99, which made no sense to me because I'm pretty sure it sold for cheaper when it went on sale at the Gap. I didn't want to pay that much, then literally a few weeks later I found it on Poshmark for $18!

I made the mistake of sending in TWO bags of my clothes to thredUP. There were AT LEAST 50 items total that I sent in. They kept a total of 11 items and I received a total of $4.27 of store credit. I really wish I had just donated my clothes.

It can be, but that’s the markup you pay to shop from home and be able to filter and return and stuff. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I prefer the fun of searching in person but it’s a nice alternative.

I agree and it really irritates me how they want to stay "on trend" like they legit say that when you go to send them your own clothes. Then have a comment that "not on trend clothes take longer to sell." Like the whole point of thrifting isn't about being "on trend" it's finding unique pieces and giving it another life.

Thread Up seems pricey to me. Most of those items you got probably would have been cheaper in store when on clearance- so unless they’re this season items (that you really want) I’d rather go thrifting in person. Still loved the video though x

I love you and I love that this makes thrifting easier for you now that you are in the land of size 4. I would be more okay with ThredUp if they 1. Stopped advertising themselves as thrift and started advertising as consignment, which is really what they are, and 2. Stopped trying to make their items seem like such a deal with their “estimated retail price,” because a lot of it is from stores like Kohl’s where you can constantly get 30% off and it’s actually the same price or cheaper. I also hope they actually read and acknowledge feedback, because I see a lot of people with similar opinions to mine. Also, you’re adorable.
