The elephants really do know their names. When Adine says one and its wrong there is no response but as soon as she realized who it is (Lundi) she turned right around then Limpopo turned her head when Adine said hello. They are so intelligent. It amazes me.

@@teresaa96289Indeed it did! Who would have ever believed that 1.) We could begin to understand what elephants are saying to each other and 2.) that just as we have our own individual unique words identifying us, so too do they. My sweet and beautiful Timisa💞always so dainty, sensitive and graceful probably felt a bit awkward at that surprise, but she handled it with grace and moved on. I love her so much. The video is so peaceful with all the elephants spread out like that picking out different branches. You had a nice one in your hand, Adine and I agree that it shouldn't have gone to waste. LOL Cute how Zindoga broke off a piece to test it first. It's so heartwarming to see that the HERD understands both English and Afrikaans and maybe other South African dialects. Awesome!

Only shows how highly intelligent they are! I am obsessed with learning new information about them. For hundreds, no, thousands of years humans have simply believed that elephants and all other animals were simply guided by instincts, not intelligent thought processes like humans. And then suddenly in the past 40-50 years researchers and scientists are becoming aware of the seemingly unlimited lengths their intelligence can take them.

We have ticks here: wood ticks and deer ticks. They both spread disease when they feed. We’re good at doing tick checks after we’ve been in the grass or garden. I can almost always feel them crawling on my skin, then I can pick them right off. They get squished between a rock and the deck railing. Yuck! I recently read that when a lot of acorns fall from oak trees (called a mast year), you get more mice, and more mice gets you more ticks in the spring. Not long ago, acorns were falling constantly and bouncing off the roof. I’d hear them while waiting to fall asleep. They’d hit the roof and roll down to land on the ground. This is a mast year. 🐘🐘🐘
