Why is there so few clips of this game, it's so fun to watch... Is it because it's quite new?

How is it that this game has more personality and charm than the western version?

The developers most likely had more passion for the franchise. The western GOL video games have always felt pretty bland in comparison to the Jinsei Game ones. The first attempt at making a GOL video game was done by Hasbro Interactive in 1998, and has some very cheesy dad-joke style humor and some very hilariously dated CGI, as well as the most enthusiastic announcer in a video game ever (not sure why you would have an announcer in a video game adaptation of a board game anyway). It also has music that sounds very close to some actual songs like "Power of Love", "Maniac" and "She Blinded Me with Science". It's overall quite entertaining to play for a laugh, but career and situation-wise, is lackluster compared to Jinsei Game. The other GOL game that came out was a port of a mobile game for console and PC, which doesn't sound too great in my opinion. As for Jinsei Game, Jinsei Game styled video games have existed before the official version was released by Takara Tomy, the official licensee of the board game. The first was created by Taito, called Bakusho! Jinsei Gekijou (Explosive Laughter! Life Theatre), and is similar to the board game, but you are given advice and even money by God. It debuted on the Famicom in 1987, and went on until the Nintendo 64, likely because by then Takara had gotten the license. Other companies would try to make their own twist on the Jinsei game formula. One company made a version where you go from kindergarten to college aiming to become a baseball player and even getting scouted by a professional baseball team (if you do well enough), and another company even made a version where you play as a human in the year 1999, being invaded by aliens and having to live life co-existing with aliens. The first Jinsei Game title Takara became involved with was RPG Jinsei Game, which is the only one so far that has been translated into English, and from there on they would make an official video game adaptation of Jinsei Game which differs in its own way from the board game. Jinsei Game has different situations depending on what career path you take, which is vastly improved in comparison to what the US version has. You have career choices ranging from a writer all the way to a hero/supervillain, along with an angel-devil system which rewards players or allows players to steal money/knowledge points if they so decide. These games are unfortunately unplayable unless you know the Japanese language which makes them hard to play with friends who can't read Japanese, which is sad, because these games would be a blast to play with friends in English, hopefully one day thy get translated.
