Congrats on completing your degree! I had wanted to go to school for meteorology, but I can't do math. Like at all. I had to take remedial math in college just to take my required math class (basic) for the degree I did get (for which I graduated with honors), and once I gave a restaurant server a 100% tip because I couldn't figure it out. Thanks, "New Math" Experiment of the 1970s. 🙄 I have 2 weather stations on my roof, but that's as far as my weather "career" has gotten.

I had to buy a new electric blanket and I have had it on my bed for three days. However, it hasn't been cold enough to turn it on and see if it works! It's thicker and more plush than the cheap one that bit the dust, so it will definitely keep me warm and toasty without having to turn it on, if our overnight temperatures continue to be in the high 30s to the high 40s. I still haven't turned on the heater in my apartment yet! Crazy winter here so far this year.

Max you should probably at least take five minutes to speak about the entire Western half of the US. They have weather there, too. I realize that the big snow stuff is really interesting but people on the other side of the country need to know about the weather too. Some pretty big fires going on in SoCal, looks like in a few days they'll be getting rain and snow in NorCal, Or. and Wa. from a system moving in from the Pacific. It'd be nice for the folks living out there to hear about what's going on as well.

Atmospheric rivers -- why do we hear so much about this term of late? Programming started in 1993 for this compound word: : a concentrated band of water vapor that flows through the atmosphere and that is a significant part of the global hydrologic cycle and an important source of regional precipitation Of course it's human-induced climate change, right? NOT!!! The first campaign featuring Smokey began in 1944; it used the slogan "Smokey Says - Care Will Prevent 9 out of 10 Forest Fires". (Smokey's name has always intentionally been spelled differently from the adjective "smoky".) In 1947, the slogan was changed to "Remember... Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires." This version of the slogan was used continually in Smokey Bear campaigns until April 2001, when the message was officially updated to "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires." Only you => meaning YOU CAUSED THE FIRE!!! human-induced Does nature not have lightning? Has nature never burned down trees only to renew itself?
