Hi Amy and Doug, just love when your videos come out. Thank you both for the entertainment. My advise for little bob and all your small engines. I have been in the fuel industry for 18 years as a transport driver and yes the non ethanol gas for them small engines is the best hands down. Im from the Brainerd area and we can’t haul the stuff fast enough in the summer.As for buying it- seek out a higher volume (busy) station and see if they carry the product. Fresher is better. When filling cans if the station does not have a dedicated nozzle for non ethanol premium put the first 1-2 gallons in your vehicle gas tank to flush out the pump hose that will have ethanol gas in it. My go to product for stabilizer/cleaner is sea foam. Now I know this will set off the comments but I am a firm believer in it. I run it in every thing in fall to get it up the carburetor before storage and 3 pulls and they are up and running in spring. I would just keep some in little bobs all the time if you only use it occasionally. Hope this advise is usefull. Thanks again for the videos.
@tallboy493 күн бұрын
If your vehicles fuel system is not suitable for ethanol then do not use it as the ethanol will perish all rubber components. Bob would probably be manufactured before ethanol was introduced to fuel so it would not be suitable to run in that engine. Also remember ethanol will draw in moisture to the fuel

Keep some SEAFOAM in your gas to keep it running good. GOOD LUCK
@Ham682294 күн бұрын
Dougo, smart thing to do is, about every 3rd or 4th tank, dump in a can of either "gumout" or "seafoam". If you run that stuff on a constant base, you'll never have these issues. Now, when I was a kid, my grand dad taught me to always keep on hand those smoking pipe cleaning brushes, they work perfect for cleaning the small ports. I do suggest you run gumout or seafoam in the gas, will clean the system out. Yes, gas has water in it, just something that many don't know or understand. Hard to find a gas engine skid steer anymore so, "priceless". If you were to replace, most likely cost you around $70-$80K, nothing is cheap or decently priced anymore. Glad you got it running good again, cheers :)

Dugo you get a lot of advice. But from my experience with many years of working on all kinds of engines I have found that SeaFoam is a miracle working chemical. It won’t hurt your engine but it will clean and lubricate every necessary part for very good run. In that tank put no less than half a can in the gas. Maybe the whole can if you have never used it before. It cleans and stabilizes your gas and engine and is very good for getting carbon off valves and pistons.

Every gallon of gas that comes on the place gets fuel stabilizer. Everything gets a cheap plastic in line fuel filter. Close the fuel valve and let it run out. That works for me.

@arlodewald53785 күн бұрын
That green stuff in the carburetor hoses filter and tank is the fuel stabilizer. I not real sure how often you use it . From what I understand you very rarely use it . That jet in the middle of the carburetor needs to come out be totally cleared and cleaned as well as the whole carb . The best thing to do if you rarely use it . Put a tee gas line and drain the gas out . Run the engine until the carburetor runs completely dry . Put a battery maintaining charger on it . Only put fuel in it when you need to use it . I buy only premium gas and premium oil mix for my gas yard equipment that needs mixed fuel . I am very very careful about keeping my gas cans and refueling practices clean . I still have my first small chain saw and trimmers that have there original carbs on them . Sure they get fine tuned cleaned a few times in over thirty plus years . They are getting old and tired as am I , hard to start like me . Didn't even have primer bulbs on small engines when they were made.

As far as cleaning the carburetor goes, get yourself an ultrasonic parts cleaner. I know a lot of people may say that’s overkill, but they are relatively inexpensive and work great. Plus with an operation as large as Larson Farms, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of use for it.

The green you have is Algae build up caused by the Ethanol in the fuel. Since Ethanol is organic, it actually grows and is very corrosive to aluminum parts. For equipment like small engines that sit for long time, use Recreation fuel 90+ that has no ethanol. Hard to tell farmers this since you grow corn directly for the ethanol industry. lol.

As I wrote in a comment, several months ago. It is a NEEDLE VALVE issue and has all the symptoms of that exact issue. I understand this because I have managed to over come the same issue on several vehicles. Including on the side of the road in getting a strangers vehicle back on the road. When it suddenly came to a stop while travelling. (on more than one occasion) Tap the side of the carburetor with the handle of a screw driver. That will hopefully unjam a sticking needle valve. Because that is why the engine is cutting out when the throttle is being moved to increase revs. Although that may only be a short term fix. Because something like dirt (grit) is jamming the needle valve. (or the needle valve needs to be replaced, along with a new fuel filter)

I'm ok with the way you work the phone camera. As for the loader, the rule of "if it takes 8 hours to fix, you spend 8 hours trying to sell it". Or, have morning coffee inside while you run it in the morning. 2000. with a full tank of 87 grade gas. And they sell the Non-Oxy gas in MN at every KwikTrip.
@lylethurn43375 күн бұрын
Clean the carb bowl with a soak in vinegar over night. Use wire from a bread bag to push gunk out of the jet. Do not use ethanol if you don't burn it soon. The alcohol absorbs moisture from the air, and settles out when standing a good while. Run regular or premium thru the carb before parking lengthy stretches. I'm sure you fog your cylinders on the boat motor too.
