You can pull power from the balance lead of the 4-cell lipo for the receiver eliminating the other battery. We used to do that with our FPV drones before the video transmitters were high voltage. It works great. You pull from the connector where 6v comes out for the receiver.
@artur13539 ай бұрын
It's hard to change the direction of the axis of an rotating mass (gyroscopic effect), in this boomerang design, the motors rotational axis are changed when the boomerang it's self rotates, so the boomerang is continuously fighting against the gyroscopic effect. So maybe that's why the small one didn't work and it took so much motor power to make it work
@GoldenHart19709 ай бұрын
If you put a bearing in the center with a tube and attached a second one on the "bottom" going the opposite way, you might be able to make it hover. And if you slow down the top or bottom motors, it might make it turn left or right. Basically a way over complicated drone "boomerang" but would be cool to see 😁

4:50 PA: That’s a Flysky FS-i6, don’t cheap out. I am not surprised it doesn’t work… Just get an actually good transmitter, basically anything that runs EdgeTX is ok. I recommend the Radiomaster Boxer, or the TX16S. Also, ELRS for the transmitter and receiver. With Radiomaster, they have an option for a built-in ELRS transmitter. Edit: The FS-i6 is literally the cheapest radio on getfpv right now. For just 11$ more you could’ve gotten a Radiomaster Pocket which is IMHO the waaaay better deal.

Nice! Does your setup allow you to reverse the motors? Maybe just before trying to catch it, a quick reversal might make it easier. Also, if it's about to hit something, maybe there would be less damage if it wasn't spinning as much.

Great Video! Some possible ideas for future revisions; - Design it as a 2 part Sandwich to "internalize' wiring and components - Split the battery load onto the 3 arms evenly (ie 3 battery packs) - Modify the wing design to include the pitch angle for more consistent/uniform pitch angles Not sure how feasible, but if you cold program the motors individually you could potentially have full maneuverability and fly it like a "normal" drone
@segment9329 ай бұрын
Try moving the motors from the wing tips towards the center of the boomerang. In that way the wing tips can have a higher speed, more lift and its get easier to throw. Ha det bra. =)
@xxmortikaixx49759 ай бұрын
I had the same thoughts as well as make the wings longer. The motors being near the center will turn the boomerang and the longer wings will act more like a helicopter rotor.

But authentic boomerangs weren't meant to come back, they were hunting weapons. Not having any knowledge of aerofoils, or the tools to check perfect balance, aboriginals would use trial and error to make ones that flew in a relatively straight and predictable manner. A returning boomerang would be a novelty and fun, but useless as a weapon.

I am from the US but the person i seen use it is Kevin Talbot from the UK on KZbin, he has a lot of good information if you continue developing this he may be a good point of contact.
