It's not activating area. It's power. No individual uses their brain at 100% capacity, they just use 100% of their brain at a lower capacity. In essence, no one runs in high gear, or else it would be like having adrenaline coursing through you at a factor of twenty at all times. I'm less confused as to how the myth got started than I am about how many people who debunk it ignore the more plausible explanation.

@@BronsonMWhite That's not true at all. Neurons are either activated or they aren't, there's no low or high power. Granted if parts of the brain were firing in patterns or areas where they shouldn't at the time (because yes, parts of your brain are technically inactive though used, because you aren't performing the function it correlates to), that's basically what seizures and many other neurological issues are.

You can theoretically pick infinite boxes in that item mini-game. You keep picking until you've picked every item, or until you pick a Bowser. Also that whole 100% of your brain thing is completely inaccurate. However, if I were psychic, which is essentially what you're asking, I would either continue to live my life in the exact same manner that I am currently because I am exceptionally lazy. Or I would ban together with three other people, two male, one female, and we would travel the world and eventually destroy a being of pure evil who is being controlled by my neighbor.

The trick to paying attention to everything on the screen is to not focus your vision on anything. If you don't focus on anything then you can better keep track of movement and multiple objects. As long as the game is easily readable then you don't need to actually focus on things to know what they are and by being able to keep track of movement all the movement simultaneously you won't lose track of your character or anything like that. If you focus too much on something then you'll tend to get tunnel vision as well if you become too excited and you'll be unable to even track movement through your peripherals nearly as well. Eventually if you become good enough at tracking movement through unfocused and peripheral vision you can focus on things to make out details while simultaneously tracking movement in your peripherals but it's best to practice without focusing at all as much as you can at first.

You guys, we use 100% of our brains. If its parts didn't have any specific functionality, it wouldn't have evolved that way. The whole "we only use 10% of our brains and if we used more we'd be super humans lol" myth is one of my biggest pet peeves because it perpetuates a ridiculous inaccuracy that diminishes people's perceptions of themselves and the astounding capabilities of the human brain. It makes me sad how we've made such great strides in understanding the complex brain and people still choose to ignore it.

It is a misconception that you only use 10% of your brain - medically and biologically speaking, each component of the brain is utilized in functioning the human mind and body. The concept of “10% of your mental potential” or “brain power”, as explained by William James in _The Energies of Men_ - is where we are only using a very “small part of mental and physical resources”. This theory has been misquoted as discussing the physical usage of the brain - rather than the potential we have in our usage of our mental facilities. This also could stem from misunderstandings about the regions of the brain, which explains the fascination with people like Phineas P. Gage, whose case helped neuroscientists in understanding the functions of the brain at the time - albeit their studies render them as more historic than accurate. It is easy to speculate that there was discussion on the percentage of the brain being used by an individual, especially considering how they once divided the regions by benevolence, hope and ideality. This goes with the concept of using one hemisphere of the brain more than the other - “using the right side of the brain”.
@poecollector645 жыл бұрын
Ugh yeah that right/left side of the brain thing drives me nuts. The different hemispheres do different stuff, but nothing would work on one side without the other side
@SourEggz5 жыл бұрын
Clare Urbanski Oh, that is just you using the _left-side of the brain..._ ugh. 😜 Ha ha ha! I know, I know. So very silly! The thing that blew my mind the most was talking to my therapist about the neuroplasticity of the brain and the misconception that people are set in their ways by the age of 30+, which for a good deal of my 20’s haunted me because I was still struggling with certain thought patterns. Just knowing that freed me. The human brain is an amazing thing and when you learn that many of the misconceptions about it actually give us unrealistic limitations when in reality it is actually capable of even more!
