While everyone says that Guzma’s childhood abuse would be too dark for a Pokémon game, need I remind you that Pokémon has never shy’d away from some heavy or dark subjects just because the game or shows were for kids. The entire plot of Pokémon sun and moon is heavy with child neglect or down right abuse with the whole Lillie, Gladion and Lusamine story. Not to mention the Alola region is strong on family and loving one another, which is a great contrast to the entire over arching plot going on. As an added bonus, Lusamine is a downright sociopathic person in terms of her work and has shown little to no care for Lille is game sequences where she tries to stop her mother. So yea, its heavy stuff, but doesn’t mean you should hide or push it away; you can show kids this type of stuff and they can either grasp it or don’t think to much on it. Nothing about a healthy or unhealthy childhood shown in these series should be shown as ‘too sensitive’ for children these games are made for. They have enough congestive reasoning to know basic right from wrongs.

True, the villains in these games should have some dark stuff attached to them, there are some implycations of Cyrus being neglected or abused due to his grandfathers dialogue in Platinum but its never really build upon wich is a shame tbh Cyrus is a pretty one note charakter, hed be much more interesting if we actually knew how he came to the conclusion that Emotions are a bad thing, there has to be some story there... One that i think is executed quite well is Ns and Gethsises entire story arc in the Gen5 games

Also,we have seen deaths in both anime and game,and some of the pokedex entries are not "children friendly"so i wouldn't see why saying that child abuse is too much for kids when pokemon like phantump is litterally a kid that died in a forest

Take Ghestis and N for example. Ghestis emotionally abused the HELL out of N. Raised him in isolation from other people, only let him see Pokemon who were abused in order to brainwash him, and repeatedly calls him a freak. Raising him in isolation probably means no doctors visits, no dentists visits, nothing like that. Only medical care from within Team Plasma. Abuse and neglect that are central to the plot, no less.

Guzma specializes in bug types because just as he was despised by his family and society, insect types are forgotten by most trainers. Also due to the colonies and hives that they create, being the equivalent of the home and shelter that he gave to the skull theme.

The boss is my favorite character in the Pokemon franchise for three reasons: 1) He gives those of us without a place some recognition.
