It's always great to see you talking about a super robot wars game and you bring it on home with the second game in the original generation. I tried playing the second game awhile ago and while I do concede that it is a bit better than the first game it also feels way more annoying and difficult for no good reason. Not to mention the story while structurally sound was also pretty much annoying to follow which is why I had a feeling that the remake would do a better job with the plot. Although 2.5 just literally feels like a afterthought to try to tie into something else for some other games in the series or in my case moon dwellers because I was so confused with most of the characters that popped up and with the iffy translation..... My head still hurts and speaking of the later games what the h*** happened when we got to super robot wars 30!? But on the brightside at least you gave a shout out to my favorite game in the GBA library which is J and easily is my favorite game in this whole series so so that was a huge positive but regardless great job!

Basically, the first episode animates the battle between Axel and Beowulf, the latter of which has gone full tentacle edgelord. That clip is from when he stabs Ryusei, the other protagonist from Original Generation 1.

One of the best parts of OG 2 is that expands on Axel and Lemon's relationship. A and A Portable implies that it was more of a physical relationship but on Axel's route where he kills Lemon he was upset at her death. GBA OG 2 makes doubles down on them not having much connection. The OGs version makes it very clear that they care about each other with both remarking that they wished they had another chance to be together without being in a war. It brings that l minor plot point from A and makes it something key to Axel's character going forward.

It's even more grim than that in the GBA script. In the final battle with him, Axel straight up says he didn't care about Lemon, turning it into more of an unrequited love situation.

It was probably a mix of questionable choices and different writers. OG1 was written by Takanobu Terada and Soichiro Morizumi, neither of which were writers for GBA OG2 but did return for the PS2 remake.

@MerryBytes Huh. Didn't know that but it would make sense. Terada managed to run a tighter ship with the rest of the OG games so its shocking that they handed the writing to someone else who made decisions they needed to re-address
