(Part 2) I live in England (Colchester to be precise). If anyone tried to do a similar thing about England or any part of it, it would be mocked. I guess that's the difference between Americans and British. Americans are very patriotic. I wear my WV baseball cap every where I go and I also have some good old WV pyjama bottoms. I know my brother does the same. Good on you guys for being proud of where you come from.

OMG! Isn't Country Roads by John Denver your state song? By far, without a doubt, this here song should be your state song!!!! This song is very specific. . .mentions the year you became a state, mentions coal miners, your pristine mountain streams, clean mountain air, hollers, whipperwhills, etc. Can't get any better than that, and the tune is very nice. I get tears every time I play this song! I was not born or haven't ever lived in WV, but I have visited a dear relative that lived in Grantsville, Calhoun County many times. I am from Texas, live in Big D (Dallas), but you have the most gorgeous state in the lower 48. West Virginia really is. . .almost heaven!

(Part 1) West Virginia is a fantastic state and one of the best holiday destinations I've ever been to. I have relatives who live there. I know for a fact that they are very proud to be from WV and I also get that impression from all the folk who live there. They also take pride in their towns. For example, the pavements are clear of litter and dog pooh.

My dad was from West Va. I been been to Charleston, and Clendidin. Was told to get off some old guy's mountain when my cousins and I climbed the mountain behind their house. He said he would fire that old shotgun at us if we didn't get off his mountain. WE got off that mountain as fast as we could. We were just kids of 11 and 12 years old.
